Looks like we have "a problem" with Dan too.

Seems to misrepresent the issue Newcastle fans have with Alex. It’s not about him wanting to leave it’s how he went about it and not playing games is why we are pissed off

I wish the players wouldn't speak so mildly about him but then again if they're not fuming with him, then maybe we can have license to not be fuming as well. I would generally prefer not to harbour hatred.

That said, my lasting emotion is more of intense disappointment and a sense of being jilted rather than hate anyway.

The players can't really be anything other than diplomatic in this situation because if they say what we want them to say then the press either get to run non stop Isak feud stories to keep the engagement bait going for another few weeks or they bring out their pre prepared gotcha response with regards Wissa and make it look like he's indirectly criticising his new teammate.

They can surely be diplomatic without "misrepresenting the issue" (Which I read higher up the thread and is the perfect term).

Burn saying "you know what Newcastle fans are like" doesn't sit right as it's needlessly reductive.

But this is such a tedious subject that is continuing to be exhausting. All for a battle that we've already lost anyway. Meh.

Oh I'm fuming with him, I'm sure players are as well, but I understand they're not going to publicly state it.

Going on strike, refusing to train or play, threatening to not play till January, turning it in to his decision and not ours etc etc are all valid reason to hate the cunt.

Honestly lads man come on. What's he supposed to say. Even if he felt some resentment he's not gonna tear into Isak at an England press conference. Some of these young lads are showing much more maturity than this board ffs. He's a fuckin cunt who has ruined his legacy so we now concentrate on the boys that want to play for us. Dan Burn's attitude and application can never be questioned either. Clearly some of this 'changing room are livid' was just bullshit. I don't think I could get mad at a pal who wanted to better himself. Even if it made my job a bit harder for a while.

I absolutely despise the way he's gone about things but I'm now just happy he's not part of our tight knit squad anymore.

Said it in the Isak thread a couple of hrs ago as well. We tend to forget these players have been friends and associates for three years now. While they will be disappointed to lose a team mate, they understand careers are short and every player has their own interests at heart. They are going to see things differently from fans. Even if they are disappointed they are probably not going to want to have a go at them publicly.

What makes you so sure?

My view is: A) I don't think Burn is that good of an actor. B) I don't think that Burn is disingenuous enough to call him a mate.

He abandoned them during a pre season tour and beyond. He compromised our start to an important season. He by all accounts acted a twat when he was forced to be around the training ground etc. I'm sure there are varying levels of annoyance amongst varying players. I'm sure some will be annoyed whilst also "getting it" and still being his mate.

Dan got it so wrong - just doesn't understand why the fans were upset.  Disappointing.  As a club though we can't take the higher ground as we signed Gordon and Wissa who pretty much behaved the same as Isak.

Fuck me, this thread is doing my head in. Get over yourselves. Burn would/should give you a slap if you came out with anything disrespectful towards him for making perfectly reasonable comments about the Voldemort issue. He knows him was/is a friend. That trumps anything the black hearted one has done (he is, obvs, no friend of mine).

Absolutely no issue for me what he's said there, BDB would know what the issue is, handing the questions the way he did draws a line under the sand.

If he were to address the actual issue of isak going on strike the next question obviously becomes about wissa doing the same, and then opens a whole can of hypocrisy worms for him and the squad to deal with.  This diplomatic answer would've been the advice given to him, and is right at home with how Howe would want it done.

Just for trying to understand how others think or feel: Is there anything your friend could do that would make you not want to be a friend with him anymore? I mean people fall out all the time right? I can think of many things that my friends could do that would turn the friendship very sour. I would think money-hungry prat pissing all over my team and teammates would be one, but i then again, some people do not (Like Burn, Botman or Gordon).

Having said that, they can feel how they like but i cant really understand why would they come out with it, as they surely know how the fans feel.
