aussiemag
Tuchel loves him and he’s really fucking good. He’s experienced, a leader, wins headers, positions well. Hes class. He could play another 3 years at least.
The College Dropout
Levi Colwil was massive competition. With his injury he’s unlikely to be fully fit for the WC if fit at all. Guehi Stones Konsa Maguire maybe if he can play regularly Dunk Hes not got a lot of competition as a left footer if that’s of primary importance. Pata
Think he's a lock to make the squad if he keeps this form and right now looks like a starter too. Even if he's not a starter he would be my first choice CB in the world to bring on for last 15 minutes while defending a lead.
magorific
9 hours ago, gazza ladra said: Just about every review I read of his performances seems dismissive. The best you can hope for is a kind of back-handed compliment: "With Kyle Walker hopefully out of the England picture there is room for a defender who relies hopelessly and hilariously on his pace when covering. The natural heir to that throne is obviously the nimble Burn, who twice repelled Andorra attacks after poor passes out of defence simply by standing still and being large. A better attack exploits those situations, a couple of which Burn created with sub-optimal choices and worse execution. England have never conceded with him on the pitch, though. What a six months he’s having." The second some mediocre talent emerges at one of the Big 6 clubs, there will be many pushing for his ouster. I can’t see it - not when Tuchel has so clearly (and, to many, surprisingly) nailed his colours to BDB. I also can’t see anyone displacing him in our team in the foreseeable future. He’s been consistently picked in the past while making the odd rick, let alone being in the form he is now.
John P
If he goes to the World Cup he's fucking nailed on to score. Loves a big game goal
Abacus
He had mainly mediocre reviews in what I've read, 5 or 6 out of 10 territory along with most of the rest of the squad. That was always going to happen unless England had thumped Andorra 10-0. Plus, on Burn specifically, I think those reviews are misunderstanding what he offers and presumably what both Howe and Tuchel see in him. Want a progressive passing defender? That's not really his game. Don't complain that he passes short to Skelly, pick a better full back instead. Want a blood and guts no nonsense defender with proper leadership qualities? There's your man. As transfers for us go, he ranks alongside Schar as being some of the best business we've done in my opinion.

toontownman
He is sprinting full speed towards a cliff age wise but damn, he isn't wrong when he said on international duty he feels he is getting better with age. Absolute rock today and bombing forward late on was impressive.
Newcastle Fan
He made the premier league look too easy today, dominated in the back, got bored and started bombing forward.
Nucasol
Bloke is an absolute colossus. Hero in every sense of the word.
nufc4eva
Unreal how good a signing he has been and so important last 3 years. Got better and better, never relied on pace anyway and hopefully can play a few more years, even around the squad he's incredibly important for us. Vinny Green Balls
Amazing given how fantastic he was when he first got here that a few started writing him off as a CB because he was played out of position for so long. He's been a brilliant CB for us his whole time here.

The Butcher
Schar for 3m and this lad for 13m. Business.
Lotus
He finished extremely well. He did get run past with considerable ease a couple of times iirc. He has a great ability to make adjustments and shore up. It’s apparent to me he has reasonable pace when he’s actually going. It’s those first couple of steps, especially if on the turn. Lush Vlad
Loved him getting forward at the end. Was our best attacking outlet second half I thought Tonali or Botman were arguably our best players on the day. But Burn must have run them close. Even a few of the mistakes he made. He then often made up for it by getting back and winning possession. A few times their player would try and take him on or chop him one way and he'd read it, stay upright and just nick it back with ease. Bit of a difficult one. As I think Botman is our best CB. But he has been so in and out the team and we will play with 2 CB's more than 3, I'd say. You can't drop Burn and I'm not sure Botman should play at RCB ahead of Schar or even Thiaw. It's a good problem to have. CB is definitely one of our strongest departments.

It's good as long as Botman is ok with it. He's got less than 2 years left on his contract and we need to get him signed up to a longer contract because he's the future, and Burn is 34 and probably at his peak right now, but will need replacing in the next couple of years. There'll be plenty of interest in Botman I would imagine, so we need to secure him this season.
Optimistic Nut
I'm a weird way, think he's better going forward as a left-back than he is defending. Think defensively he's suspect against any sort of pace, especially when he has to turn and chase back. Going forward though, I think in his odd, ungainly way, he's more of a nuisance going forward. Coffee_Johnny
He’s had a few great attacking involvements lately. What a term to come up with! But you know what I mean, nice passes/assists, good runs to pull defenders away, generally being a right fucking nuisance. It’s like he’s channeling Keegan style coaching—“go out and chuck a few grenades”.
