Or not try and cross it when there is no angle to get it past said first man. I think at least 4-5 times he attempted it and it was never on. Trying to kick it through their defender

I don't think he beat the first man with any of the crosses, it was painful to watch, he just tried nothing different, not a cut back, or drop of a shoulder. Just twat into the guy stood in front of him.

This. He wasn't as good going forward as Hall obviously, but he could ping in a decent cross, and arguably was a better defender.
