He's not as good as Digne going forward but he is a lot stronger defensively

Agree. I would love to see us sign a left back version of Trippier at some point, but Targett is such a good defender it more than makes up for his lack of absolute excellence going forward.

I have underlined that bit for those who are going to come back to insist he's good going forward as well. Yes he is, I agree.

Feels great to get this done so early

First one in was the one that already had a foot in the door and an effective, sensible signing of an effecftive sensible player.

Along with adding the infrastructure, its quite unnerving

Chuffed for him

Which ace journalist wrote this line two weeks ago, do we reckon?

"The chances of Matt Targett making his loan move permanent have reduced dramatically in the last few days."

Today is a good day, bet he’s over the moon that’s here permanently now.

Yeah I think he loves being here, you can't put a price on that.

Good solid signing and risk free to dressing room spirit and wage structure which I think is quite clearly EH’s priority but goes without saying he doesn’t improve us from last season.

So according to the Athletic article that was the opposite of what happened two weeks ago

Just shows that NUFC have done a great job at plugging the leaks. Nobody got wind of Hayden heading to Norwich, nobody knew that the Fun88 deal has been cut short and nobody knew that Targett was still ON.

All those reports of Renan Lodi? According to Targett, Eddie told him he wanted to sign him before the last game of the season and given what we know about Howe, he wouldn't have done that if there was any chance of us signing someone else.

They know fuck all. We might have enquired about Lodi, prior to the end of the season, but clearly that's as far as it went.

But, but, but, but, I thought the richest club in the world would be signing galactico mercenaries for megabucks.

Instead we're signing solid, consistent, model pro's who are here because they want to be part of a positive progressive squad who are on a journey up the league.

Worrying.
