He just doesn’t seem a City type player, unless they change a lot to make it work for him. I've been saying this since they signed him. He's not a City type player, I thought the same about Grealish and I've been proved right so far. Not what they needed and hideously overpriced. I'd have kept both Sterling and Jesus and spent the Grealish/ Haaland money elsewhere. Of course they'll probably both go on to break records at City now

Fantail Breeze
The year is 2042, 56 year old James Milner takes a final puff from his inhaler before running onto the field just in time to celebrate a winning goal in the Community Shield. Man City have still failed to win the Champions League.

If any other club did it, they'd start seeing matches abandoned. FA darlings and then some. Lest we forget, Richarlison is banned for the first game of our season because he picked up and threw back a flare when playing for Everton back on May 1st. There were still five games left and they were threatened by relegation. Burnley not happy about it.

Astroblack
German Super Cup looks tasty. Bayern vs Leipzig. Both teams with strong lineups. Mane playing as Bayern’s #9. N’Kunku as Leipzig’s.
Dr Jinx
I don’t know who was slagging off Nunez but I was gutted when the dippers signed him. I thought he would have been perfect for us but we just aren’t there yet. Haaland on the other hand, it’s been a hype train but he’s been playing in a lesser league, his fee may well be cheap as am sure he will score goals but it might be a case of arriving at City at the wrong time. I think they’ve made some poor outgoings and not really ever replaced the leadership since Kompany retired.. they might need that this season. Haaland has been a hype train (for a reason) but top scorer in the CL even if he comes from a lesser league. Not bad. De Bruyne and Son also came from this lesser league. Now two of the if not the best players in their position. But if hes a perfect fit for City remains to bee seen. Give the guy a match or two before calling him a flop. This place sometimes. The Benficas and some here got along with the technique suggestion. Edited July 30, 2022 by nufc123
Guest neesy111
Good to see we are writing off players after 1 game. Reminds me of the headline of ravanelli 3 and shearer 0 goals after the 1st game of 1996/97 season. Edited July 30, 2022 by neesy111
Astroblack
Bayern already 2-0 up after 30 mins. Mane with the second. Musiala absolutely running the show. Cannot believe he’s 19.

I’m not calling him a flop, just reminds me of Andy Carroll a bit in his stature. I think Man Utd would have been a better fit, Spurs would be a good fit. Basically any team that plays that fast counter attack.. the slow build up Man City have will prove frustrating I think.

Anon
If you watch Harland's (admittedly not very impressive) highlights, there's a clip where a teammate lifts his leg back to shoot, in about half a second he sprints back onside, pivots then manages to get the first to the rebound by a clear yard. He's going to be immense.

Coffee_Johnny
Haaland is just what City have been missing, to my mind. He’ll have a decent first season. I actually have a sneaking suspicious that Alvarez will have an even better one.

I ain’t jinxing anything, could be foolish words but I really think City have made themselves weaker over the summer despite bringing Haaland in. The guy already has been a monster but every player has a chink the armour, his I think will be the way they play, the pressure of the role he has and the potential for the first time in his career where he won’t just be banging them in just by showing up. He’s not really had any adversity yet.

midds
When I think of a classic Haaland goal it always involves him running at pace at a defence who can't handle him. He runs past them and smashes it into the net, that seems to be his forte and he's unreal at that, quick break and he's probably the best in the world at punishing it. But City don't play like that. They dominate possession, the opposition sit deep and allow no space to run into, the quick breaks I'm imagining just wont happen. They need movement in the box rather than his sprint into the box. He's obviously still a fantastic striker and he'll still score loads but he'll need to adapt his game. He'll need to be sharp in the box rather than outside of it, find space rather than use his pace to run into space. He'll score loads but he'll need to adapt.
