Obv could easily have been a red buy I think you can just about justify a yellow there. He's at least going for the ball, albeit a bit dangerously.

Ref give a yellow so not sure what you mean by a 2nd chance.  If it was red and var give yellow you would have a point.

 

If VAR was not there the result would been the same.

He's leading with the elbow, not swinging it which probably saved him. It's one of those where if it was a red, it wouldn't have been changed to a yellow, but given as a yellow it won' be made a red.

 

Personally i think it's a yellow, only just mind.
