Would being in Japan make a big difference in getting transfers done ?

We're signing some 2-3 Japanese players and paying for them in Yen. Saves a few quid with the currency difference and also them just hopping onto our plane back home.

We're leaving Shola behind too to make for some space on the plane.

Explanation for some absences in squad travelling to Japan:

“With Garang, we're waiting to see what happened with him,” Howe explained. “He's got a little bit of swelling in his knee so we're not sure if he'll be okay.

“Joe White is nursing a sore back so again we're assessing that one and Alex will be out for a couple of weeks with a hip problem.”

From online Shields Gazette article, with clickbait headline about injured forward.

That’s Alex Murphy he’s talking about right?

Don’t really like the fact that we have only been able to bring one senior striker to Japan who is also likely to be the only tricker for pre season unless we buy.

wouldn’t be against giving Shola a run out in those circumstances.

Urawa are the closest Japan has to hooligans, albeit relatively polite in comparison to anything here. Lived in Japan for 10 years but had a season ticket at the smaller local rivals Omiya Ardija. Hope we smash them!

Aye I think I read a while back they’re quite nationalist linked aren’t they? I went to watch them a few years ago against one of the Osaka clubs (Gamba, I think) and it was probably the least threatening atmosphere I’ve ever been in. Good crack though even if the game was horrifically slow.

What was that like as a football experience?

Really enjoyable. Went with my eldest son home and sometumes away. Really friendly atmosphere apart from at Urawa which was still not threatening.

Bruno blowing out his arse at the end of that 500m half marathon

Sandro ‘The Machine’ Tonali was absolutely knackered as well. I know he isn’t playing but not much down time before match today could be lots of substitutions (hope there is!).
