Today I learned (well re-learned, I was at the first leg age 7) that we played both legs against Monaco in 97 without Ferdinand and Shearer....

I'd been wondering if we should've gone further.

Also learned I saw Henry play for Monaco.

And also that UEFA's website is sloppy, cos it has Keegan down as our manager when it was in fact Kenny.

That was the game where Henry knocked it past Steve Watson then practically ran on the running track on the outside of the pitch and still got there first.

Why were the away fans locked out for this game?

Incredible work in midfield from Beardsley with him on the deck surrounded just before the equalizer

short lived away fan ban, I watched it at the arena.

@Alan Pardew would be perfect for this.

I haven’t applied for the position lads don’t worry. I’m still aiming to be back in the dugout. Managing… setting the team. One last dance with the King. Heh… no…

I would take a gig in the Championship I’ll tell you that. Some mid table side and then guide them to promotion. I’ve done it before you know.

See ya later.

Pope against Liverpool from Jones in the cup final.

Easy to forget that other than the goal they got this save was the only one they made Pope make in the whole afternoon. Palm that one in and it's a different story completely

Didn't we ask him to stay after Shearer got injured and he said no and went to Spurs anyway?

After we'd fucked him about pretty extensively, aye.

Watched the 96-97 season review last night, quite a few bad spells early in the season that would’ve had this place rife for a Keegan sacking. Also took Shearer longer than I remembered to score from open play that season & couple of longish term injuries waste of money etc etc.

Was class whenever Sir Les came back to SJP and he got a standing ovation and then got booed the first time he touched the ball

The funniest example of that, was I think Steve Watson being roundly applauded when he was warming-up to come on for Aston Villa. As soon as he touched the ball there were massive boos and he absolutely cracked up on the pitch.
