I'm his biggest critic but think that was just a good strike. Thought Burn's half-arsed attempt of a clearance on halfway was more of a reason for that goal.

I thought he should have done better. But the criminal defending leading up to the goal was more of an issue.

I've rewatched it plenty and can't work out what he was trying to do, other than try to chest it over their attacker and Tonali and bring the ball out but the area was far too congested. Ended up with him out of the game though for the rest of the goal.

Yeah. Sorry, just to be clear. I was on about Pope. Should have probably done better. But he was massively let down by his defence.

So annoying that we keep gifting City a soft goal or two at their place. It’s fair to say we struggle at the Etihad  never going to improve on our awful record there if we basically almost start the game -1.

The 2nd goal was perhaps a bigger overall issue. Hall got drawn to the ball, Woltemade’s positioning showed his inexperience in the position and Elanga was almost Shelvey like in his attempt to get close to O’Reilly. It was a great cross but we regularly give up chances like this to City.

I don't put Pope at "fault" for the goal per se but looks at the Donnarumma save at the end.

Yes yes things would play out differently etc but if Pope saves his shot and Donnarumma concedes then we're the ones who win 2-1.

Thiaw getting drawn to the ball when it was crossed despite Burn’s position and losing his man was the biggest issue which led to the winner.  It was schoolboy defending.

From the Barnes volley? Was going wide I thought?

GK is arguably the most critical position. Remember being at a talk in with King Kev years ago and he said if we had Schmeichel in goal and Man Utd had Pavel we win the League with room to spare. A few people in the room were grumbling a bit such was the love for Pav, but once he explained why he'd turned them around.

We need to sign a top class Keeper, no doubt about it. Pope is still our best best even though he's on the decline now but Ramsdale isn't the answer. Was just looking at his stats yesterday. He's got a 47% shots to saves record this season. That is utterly pathetic. That's before you bring into account his inability to command his box. Pope, whilst not having a great season himself is on 69% for comparison.

The fine margins have often fallen in the opposition's favour this sesson. One of the reasons is that neither of our goal keepers have covered themselves in glory. It's hugely important that we address it in the summer.
