Are we?! I’d say that third midfield spot is probably our weakest area (especially if we’re planning to use Isak as a wide man when Wilson is fit).

As in numbers. The quality obviously drops off after Bruno, Jo, and Shelvey but Willock and Longstaff are both Premiership quality midfielders, we then have Anderson coming through too.

I just cannot see us bringing another midfielder in unless they're a massive step-up (or a loan to cover for Shelvey).

Our problem in midfield is the drop off from Joelinton and Bruno to Longstaff is probably the biggest drop off in the league.

We don't have that in most other positions now bar maybe ASM and Pope (if Dubravka goes).

We're not a top 6 team/squad yet though so it is unrealistic to expect our squad players to be of the same quality as our first 11 all over the pitch.

I do think a CM/DM has to be the priority though and I'd be disappointed if we didn't manage to at least address that with a loan player.

Can’t see us buying a RB when we have 3 on the books.

It’ll take a fairly long time to get a squad good enough so we’re not affected by injuries to people like Bruno and Trippier. That’s just something we have to live with.

Exactly. If you took a starting striker and two starting CMs out of pretty much any team outside the top six they'd start to look a bit threadbare.

We don't have the luxury yet of just adding squad depth - we need more quality in the starting XI and we have to be smart with the budget.

A young RB that wont take up a squad space due to age might be something they look at though and could free up moving manq on.

Don’t think that’s too surprising to be honest we’ve clearly over spent the budget as it is to get Isak in. just hope what ever loan we get is good enough for the first team

There may well be players who clubs originally wanted/planned to sell who become available for loan once we get closer to Thursday night.

Maybe someone like Soumare if Leicester need to trim the wage bill?

That would be slightly underwhelming but he offers cover in midfield and at RB so I can see why we'd be interested.

He'd add good depth but not necessarily an upgrade in quality.

Add whatever "cards close to chest" and "Edwards - prophet of doom" discounts you feel appropriate to the above comment.

Edwards is reporting literally what Howe has just said  he might be a fanny but come on

Anyone hear Tim Vickery’s views on the radio about Paqueta? Why didn’t we sign him ?

Should have the same impact for West Ham as Bruno did for us. That being said, PL is an odd league and more talented players have failed to adapt.
