desperate for one, even 2 midfielders.

need a striker/wideman combined.

if wilson gets injured we have no striker on the bench

Fair

The RCB is the link we could probably live without.

LB, CM x 2 and a RW type player seem the most logical upgrades or are essential for depth.

Think Gordon is the wide forward.

Could be, it seems that we want a playmaker type forward though (Maddison, Szoboszlai, etc).

Unless they're also being brought in to cover one of the midfield places.

I think they are hence why I think they might go for Szoboszlai over Maddison as an 8. He’s more adaptable to both positions along with he fits the bill of over 6ft and physically better than Maddison. What extra they may need to pay in fees if any they will save in wages with him.

Have a feeling it will be Thurman for the 6. I don’t think it will be Tierney for the 3. Think all the noise with him is coming from the Arsenal end.

Then you've clearly not understood me.

Rodri lead City for league games this year and he's played - but for two games - DM. De Bruyne has played either CM or AM. I didn't say we should never sign versatile players. I said we have several that fit that mould, now we need specialists. That's why Pep spent 100m on a player that he's only using as a left winger.

Are you trying to imply that Stones, Walker and Bernardo weren’t massive parts of City’s team this season?

I don’t think I agree with the premise that seems to imply a “specialist” is superior to a “versatile” player. We’re also not playing in remotely the same financial stratosphere as City, so if anything players that offer the ability to play multiple positions are probably more valuable to us right now.

Krafth is back too.

BDB will likely be back as a CB next season too. Pretty sure we will still get a RCB but Botman, Schar, Lascelles, Burn and Krafth as backup is already there. Interested to see how Alex Murphy, McArthur and Savage have developed this year too. Kelland watts is coming back from loan too.

God damnit @SUPERTOON

I was literally annoyed at work this morning for a few seconds when i read that tweet, thinking of course fucking Dortmund or Leipzig would get him.

Also thinking that watch him go to RM or City in a couple of seasons for around/plus 100m.

Why do we talk in numbers and not positions now?

I just relate them to Newcastle players over the last 20 odd years. A new number 27 and a good 32 would be great. 11 is a box to box CM, right?

32 will always be the classic mercurial French left winger in my book. Anderson knows.

Sounds like a packet of crisps with a pint whilst wearing your new shoes.

Man U letting macguire go - give him a years deal see how he gets on? Did a good job for England and Leicester

It'd be a risk but I'd say it's a 50% chance he gets close to his old self once he's out of Man Utd.

Maguire is too slow on the turn to play our system.

He's also horrid in possession.

Same passing stats as Botman tbf (86%). Probably right these days on playing in a high line though. That'd be a big risk.

Dunno what the stat for "play himself into trouble regularly" is, but that's what I'm on about with the possession thing.  His decision making and speed of thought is scary bad.

Aye that's true. I still think a lot of pressure will be released by leaving Man Utd though.
