I just see a lot of posts from people on here and on Twitter being disparaging about players like Dendoncker when they’re a very realistic signing who would significantly improve our midfield options. It’s surely setting yourself up for massive disappointment to be expecting another deal the size of Isak or Bruno to waltz through the door in the next 2 days. Be hopeful, sure, but you must surely see why that is unlikely. We’ve already had a very good window…I just think people need to be mindful of that. Regarding your other point, you being pedantic. Everyone can see with their own eyes that Willock usually plays as the most advanced of our 3 CMs. And regarding the “Arrogance” comment… pot kettle. Right back at ya. I mean the lad just said he didn't want Dendoncker and stated his reasons (a quick look on FBRef suggests he might be right) We've clearly stayed away from buying players just to fill squad positions, hence not pulling the trigger on multiple players this window who would seemingly improve us (Cornet/Sarr) etc. We're actually pretty stacked in centre mid so anyone brought in, you would assume, would either be a loan, or someone we see being in the first team for a long while. I haven't seen much of Dendoncker so I'm not sure like.

Sorry I should have made it clear, my post wasn't solely in relation to the Dendoncker post... just a build up of frustration reading stuff over the last few days. The Prophet
Dendoncker is a Newcastle fan if I recall correctly. It feels like he'd fit in the Burn category. A solid squad option until a target further up the list becomes available later down the line.

Are we?! I’d say that third midfield spot is probably our weakest area (especially if we’re planning to use Isak as a wide man when Wilson is fit). Hanshithispantz
Just now, Joseph said: Are we?! The quality obviously drops off after Bruno, Jo, and Shelvey but Willock and Longstaff are both Premiership quality midfielders, we then have Anderson coming through too. I just cannot see us bringing another midfielder in unless they're a massive step-up (or a loan to cover for Shelvey).

Ikon
I want the Lyon RB. He looks class! Even if not priority now obviously.
PlymouthGeordie
Our problem in midfield is the drop off from Joelinton and Bruno to Longstaff is probably the biggest drop off in the league. We don't have that in most other positions now bar maybe ASM and Pope (if Dubravka goes). We're not a top 6 team/squad yet though so it is unrealistic to expect our squad players to be of the same quality as our first 11 all over the pitch. I do think a CM/DM has to be the priority though and I'd be disappointed if we didn't manage to at least address that with a loan player.
AyeDubbleYoo
Can’t see us buying a RB when we have 3 on the books. It’ll take a fairly long time to get a squad good enough so we’re not affected by injuries to people like Bruno and Trippier. That’s just something we have to live with. TheBrownBottle
The quality of our squad players is precisely why it’ll take years not a couple of windows to really make a dent in this league. Not to say they aren’t good pros, but there is an obvious lack of quality there.
The Prophet
If we get a DM or RW on loan, it would round off a really solid window. We lack quality in both positions, even when everyone is fit.

If you took a starting striker and two starting CMs out of pretty much any team outside the top six they'd start to look a bit threadbare. We don't have the luxury yet of just adding squad depth - we need more quality in the starting XI and we have to be smart with the budget.

A young RB that wont take up a squad space due to age might be something they look at though and could free up moving manq on.

gdm
Don’t think that’s too surprising to be honest we’ve clearly over spent the budget as it is to get Isak in. just hope what ever loan we get is good enough for the first team
gbandit
Apart from Chelsea loanees which appear to have all gone cold, have we had other loan names linked? Wonder if that Barca player we were linked with could be a loan option
Keegans Export
There may well be players who clubs originally wanted/planned to sell who become available for loan once we get closer to Thursday night. Maybe someone like Soumare if Leicester need to trim the wage bill? Edited August 30, 2022 by Keegans Export
PlymouthGeordie
Hopefully we can get a good loan signing with a purchase option. Pulisic would be unreal but equally Gallagher seems really well equipped for our high intensity approach. I'm sure the club is casting the net far and wide though.
