That is grim!  :D Can't stand the bloke these days. Never really had an opinion on him few years ago, and thought West Ham fans hounded him out. Since he got that England job just found a dislike for him. Find he has an intolerable arrogance nowadays.

Didn't like the whole MNF thing he did. Came across as if he was God's gift to football, and that he was hard done by not to ever be in anything other than relegation scraps.

Not even been there 6 months, but seems to have totally gutted that club of any ambition, style  or just anything likeable. Recent interviews I've seen of him, he's just thrown the players under the bus as if now he's finally at a 'big club', he's got a divine right to be winning football matches; with his players continually holding him back from getting what's his.

Some guy on an Everton forum last week genuinally thought he could take them into the CL, akin to what Redknapp did with Spurs!

How can you be a Newcastle fan and not have an opinion on him before a few years ago?

Was a little too young to fully appreciate the horrors that he would have been inflicting upon us to be honest. Then there would have been the years of not really giving a toss what he got up too at Blackburn.

Always thought he was a bit shit like, but as I've matured my views of Fat Sam have become more rounded and comprehensive.

Big Sam undeniably did a great job with Bolton on a kind of shoe string budget, although paying high wages. I didn’t buy into the hoof ball type football either as Bolton could mix it up. It worked for him the because he built the club up from top to bottom and it was HIS club as KK was ours, Everton was Moyes’, Charlton Curbishley’s etc. He got the big move to SJP and he talked a bloody good game and it was obvious we needed rebuilt and needed the kind of expertise Big SAM specialised in. Sports science, fitness and everything else and while we started that season well, the football wasn’t great and towards the end it was dire. A new owner coming in didn’t help him, he was always going to be on borrowed time. I still believe had he stayed all season, we wouldn’t have went down. But that’s one for debate. Since us his confidence was knocked and he has become a survival specialist and that’s what keeps getting him jobs and if I was an owner of a club in danger, he’d be the first person I’d appoint. Nowadays he spends a fuck load on average players and doesn’t deliver what he did at Bolton, over achievement and top 6 finishes. It’s impossible to do that today mind given the finances of the top clubs and every other club. He should have stayed at the mackems and turned them into his Bolton which I think he was capable of. He was never England material and the Everton job was for me trying to guarantee survival. Sam or no Sam I think they would have stayed up anyway. It’s no surprise they are after his blood though because they are shit under him after a decent start. At Bolton, I considered him a good manager, a good coach and a very good appointment when he joined us. He hasn’t learned though and can not deliver anything other than survival which comes at a huge cost and has its ceiling. Hopefully we will one day see an end to him and managers like him such as Pardew et al.

Everton seem a bit of a cluster fuck at the moment. Bound to be a massive power struggle going on there - Moshiri and Kenwright, then you've got Steve Walsh that's going to be having his say on players (shocking business so far imo), without even factoring in what Allardyce is up too.

How can a club seemingly throw all efforts into Marco Silva - obviously thinking he's the right fit for the next stage of Everton FC, and then end up hiring Allardyce - a totally different style coach and different character to be managing your club.

They brought in Cenk Tosun, as it would have been obvious to everyone at the club they needed a striker. Decent fee paid for him. Couple of weeks later, Allardyce has said he's not ready for PL football as his hold-up is shit, and might be able to play at end of the season. That all seems very unprofessional to me, and nobody with any power at the club really having the same vision of how on field and off-field performance might meet.

Whilst top four was mental in expectations, factoring in Arsenal's capitulation this season that 6th place has been there for the taking - and Everton we're the next cab of the rank, and they've really blown their chances through having no single idea or conviction in what their up too.

It was a myth that he had a show string budget at Bolton. He was allaowed to bring in players from Real Madrid who paid by far some of the best wages in world football at a time when Champinship (division 1 at the time) and most Premier League teams couldn’t touch. He also brought in biggish name players, one of them was replaced by Ronaldinho at PSG when he left for Bolton. Gary side, the chairman of Bolton at the time was bank rolling Bolton to eat them into the Premier League, he had even funded a new stadium for them a few years before. Again this was back when a new stadium would be a 15-25 year investment atleast, instead of what is now a few years of Premier League funding.

Wouldn't say it was a shoe-string budget, but probably not as extravagant as being made out there either...

Think you're overstating the wages that Hierro and Campo would have been on come the end of their contracts at Real. No doubt, Real were paying big contracts to certain players, but Perez's whole 'Zidane y Pavon's' ethos would state that anyone who wasn't a galactico wouldn't be earning anything that a middling PL club at the time couldn't afford. Also add in that they we're coming in on short term deals, as free agents - they would have got their moneys worth out of the names that we all remember in peak Allardyce time.

Any excessive contracts would have more than balanced by the bulk of the squad on relative peanuts as well. Think Bolton's problems started to happen once and after Allardyce left. Their performances in the league after he left could no longer match up to the committed budgets in place, and add in bigger investment being made after he left in the Sammy Lee, Owen Coyle years. Would recon Karl Henry's been on just as big of a salary as Okocha would have been tbh.

We didn't.

And there was no way he would have and should have left SMB for England, man.

Also seen reports in Italy are coming out alleging that Mauro Icardi's wife Wanda Nara has been having an affair with team-mate Marcelo Brozovic (she has form, considering she was married to Icardi's idol and team-mate Maxi Lopez and had an affair with Icardi before it was later exposed and they got together afterwards).

This bitch is evil, like. The Alan Pardew of footballers wives, although not as much of a c*** of course.

She sounds like a proper bunny boiler! :(

Bolton I believe, and I could be wrong, had a minus net spend under him. They spent well on wages to attract the players they did, but their wage bill wasn’t anywhere near as big as some. He had a knack of getting players past their best from different leagues to come here and perform and that cannot be denied. He give players an extra year or so on their career and some big names bought into his methods. Again, he was a top manager at Bolton, but then it went to s*** for him after us for a multitude of reasons. I’m a firm believer in that some managers just seem to fit certain clubs or vice versa and Bolton and that type of club was Big Sam’s match. Sunderland was too, but he left for England their loss really. They wouldn’t be where they are now that’s for sure if he was still in charge. He’s a survival specialist and will keep a club up, but that’s about it now. Kind of sad in a way because I championed his appointment here and he wrote a brilliant blue print for the future of English Football for the FA while Bolton manager which was published via the coaching network under UEFA which k wish I had a copy of. His ideas were revolutionary and spot on I thought. For someone considered a dinosaur he wanted to do away with big pitches, 11 aside, big goals etc. regards kids’ football. He also wanted the FA to create a coaching dynasty that allowed non former players to get into the pro game. I truly believe money corrupted him. Getting back to Bolton as a team, they were no Wimbledon and could mix it up. They were no Man City of course (who are), but they were not a long ball team. They always seemed to have the measure of the bigger teams as well. That’s not luck, that’s tactical acumen and Big SAM had that in his locker, only he seems to have kept it there since.

If that was one of our lot to Ashley I'd be embarrassed tbh. No need for it. As much as we as football fans get emotional when losing, you're a idiot if you put that emotion before the basic respect for another human being. Yes they're footballers, billionaire owners etc, but they're fucking people first and deserve to be treat like it.
