Man City statement

"Manchester City is disappointed but not surprised by today’s announcement by the UEFA Adjudicatory Chamber. The Club has always anticipated the ultimate need to seek out an independent body and process to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence in support of its position.

In December 2018, the UEFA Chief Investigator publicly previewed the outcome and sanction he intended to be delivered to Manchester City, before any investigation had even begun. The subsequent flawed and consistently leaked UEFA process he oversaw has meant that there was little doubt in the result that he would deliver.  The Club has formally complained to the UEFA Disciplinary body, a complaint which was validated by a CAS ruling.

Simply put, this is a case initiated by UEFA, prosecuted by UEFA and judged by UEFA. With this prejudicial process now over, the Club will pursue an impartial judgment as quickly as possible and will therefore, in the first instance, commence proceedings with the Court of Arbitration for Sport at the earliest opportunity."

Absolute joke like. Pretty much stops anyone breaking the elite consistently anymore. We might as well give up now.

How they punish city and not PSG who spent €350m euros on 2 players is pretty laughable.

Assuming the champions league place passes down does that mean Sheffield United are on for a Champions League spot?

Imagine how bad they’ll fume at this when they get 5th spit, a place in the Champions League, and lose it to Man City’s appeal.

Two teams who have not played by the rules and screwed Sheffield United each time.

But don’t the elite exist precisely because of the ridiculous financial situation?

It’s barely a sport if the only way to compete is to get a Sheik to put £400m a year in.

But the only reason Man City could compete consistently was doing it they way they did.

I'm all for FFP but its blatantly not in favour of certain clubs

It favours the elite like Man Utd and stops any other club from ever being able to compete to win things regularly.

The theory of ffp is fine the reality is its designed to prevent the old money of europe bring knocked off their perch. I increasingly hate the champions league as all over Europe especially in smaller leagues it warps the league as how can you compete fairly with the kind of cash they get

Tough shit. What Man CIty have done is make it even harder for anyone else to get in. It’s also not guaranteed they wouldn’t have been able to do it without Sheikh Mansour. Don’t get me wrong they wouldn’t have dominated in the way they have, but they have always been a big club, with good owners they’d have been capable of challenging For Champions league spots. I mean Leicester have done it with fewer means at their disposal. With average /forward thinking owners we would have too.

Just highlights that the sport is completely broken at the top level. Arguing against FFP so that new clubs can buy the title just shows what a mad situation we’re in.

Would Man City have ever had a chance of achieving what they did? Why shouldn’t they be allowed? You’d get the odd ‘blip’ every 25 years maybe but ultimately we’d be sitting watching the same clubs winning everything over and over. UEFA created this beast with the Champions League (clearly to favour and protect the elite), so when an entity like Man City comes along and upset the apple cart, they don’t like it.

Without the sheikh cash what would have happened is the moment city even got close to cl places the rich clubs pick apart the team like vultures. The rich get richer and everyone else is there to make up the numbers. Fuck modern football and everything it stands for
