Isak is more important than Ekitike. We only sell if we get a ridiculous price and the player wants the move.

For £75m we can buy an alternative to Ekitike. Isak is world class already.

My feeling is if we sold Isak for 150m, we could do amazing things with that money. Trouble is, Isak is worth more than his monetary value. He's part of what intangibly makes this team tick, and I'm not so sure we could easily replace that.

We couldn't when you look at the prices in the market. You can't replace players that good unfortunately so whoever we bought in replacement would be downgrade.

The bed wetting in here  they're not getting Isak for £120m even if their tactic does unsettle him doesn't mean we have to automatically let him go. You're in for a long week if you're rattled now, we will string them along until we get the Ekitike deal over the line then slam the door in their face. Bookmark this, we'll have both of them.

It’s clear that Romano has been paid by Isak’s agent to send that tweet in order to try and extract more money from us during his contract talks after revealing our interest in Ekiteke.

If we get £140-£150m for him that unlocks the PSR conundrum for us and we can build an actual squad. We might to moneyball the fuck out of it to make up his goals in the margins but fuck it - it’s worth doing imho. I like Isak but there’s other young strikers out there.

You think Isak needs to do that?

Or he is interested in a move to Liverpool.

This is a big moment for the club.

Could be a genuine turning point between us actually becoming something else this season and moving onto the next level or staying a 4th-7th placed club for the next 3/4 years.

Guess we'll see which.

Where are Liverpool getting this money from? Another player over 100 in the same window?

They have twice as much income as us so I guess a £50 million signing for us equals a £100 million for them. Plus they were tight last summer and made a small transfer profit so presumably have some headway. They've also sold about £55 million's worth this summer already as well.

Yep. Ekitike is a talented player, but Isak is a proven destroyer of world class defenders. We must keep him unless he throws a hissy fit.

The other thing to consider is Isak probably knows he’ll have a list of suitors next summer including the big guns on the continent. I think he has an affinity for us so I’d be surprised if he tried to force this through, transfer request etc.

Ornstein tweeted the same thing a few minutes later

He has three years left on his contract, absolutely love the guy, whatever happens he's a legend, but there's no way we can allow him to go to Liverpool or any other English club without them paying an insane premium to get him, regardless of what he wants, and I'm very confident he'll respect the contract he has and not push this too much. I would rather we sell him for 50m less to a non English club next Summer then lose him now and don't think it's even close.

It makes no sense to sell for anything other than an absurd price. We'd leave ourselves with no striker and put ourselves in a terrible negotiating position for replacing him.
