If Isak wants out he will get out.. Player desire and wants are too powerful nowadays.

If Liverpool want him I'd ask for Elliot, Nunez plus another of Eddie's project player or two plus £100m..

Go all football manager on them

Rather Sesko than Nunez all things (pay etc) being equal.

Judging by how quickly folk have turned on him, don't know why there is an expectation of player loyalty.

It's unbelievable really.

Guy is likely about to break the British record for a transfer and set the club up to take the next step forward.

It just is what it is. It's not ideal, but just part of the process as things are currently setup.

He's just hit a level that the club can't pay the going rate for yet.

Having said that. Please not Liverpool. God forbid!

£150m up front is a lot of money but we have to then buy players which we aren't good at as it includes Newcastle tax.

You're right it never happens as I said go all football manager on them. We're in the driving seat and we make the demands not Liverpool

The fee doesnt matter - it's the freedom with PSR wriggle room that counts. £120 frees up a huge amount of spend if we want to do it.

It doesn’t really.  We need recurring revenue. A pipeline of talent to sell.  One time selling our best player doesn’t help us financially. The amortised costs need paying in year 3.

Ive been with the Mrs for 31yrs. If I get home and find her shagging someone my loyalty will turn fairly fast.

I love Isak and hes a brilliant character, but I'm not exactly surprised he wants to leave. I don't get the warm and fuzzy feeling from him as I do other players.

Maximise the ££ please and invest well.

Can anyone put a compilation of all his one-on-one chokes together so I can feel something?

PIFs chance to show what they are made of.

All of a sudden the links to Joao Pedro/Ekitike make perfect sense. There was absolutely no way we were looking at spending £60-£70M for a player to be back up to Isak.

Looks like it. Perhaps Isak made it clear early in the summer he wanted to leave, and they told him to keep it quiet so they could get a replacement first. We've failed to do that and now he's going public. All assumptions, who really knows

PSR wiggle room and amortidsation is everything here. It's not 'only 130m', it's multiple times that given that on the books the outgoing fees are spread over the entire contract and incoming booked all in one go.

For the 100th time, no it isn't.

If we get £130m for Isak and then spend 5 times that on other players thinking it's fine, just because we yelled "Amortisation!" like some magic spell whilst signing them, sure we'd be fine this year.

But next year we'd need to find another £130m for the second year of those purchases. And another £130m the year after. And another £130m in year 4, and another £130m in year 5.

Unless we plan to keep selling a player for £130m every single year for the next 5 years, then selling Isak for £130m this year absolutely does not allow us to spend multiple times that on signings.

Hell, we're still "Amortising" Bruno. And Isak. And Tonali. And Gordon. And Botman. Every year we have to find PSR room to pay another fifth of their fees still. So a massive chunk of any Isak sale might just go on that.

Amortisation is not some cheat code, it's just kicking the can down the road.

I can accept him wanting to leave but pretending to be "injured" is just a scumbag move

He's not pretending anything. It's the club that mentioned the scan and the club that told him to train alone. That usually either means head down and wait for the window to close (not selling), or don't keep an unhappy player and don't allow him to get injured.
