Mattoon
It's time for the Saudis to prove we're not some sportswashing vehicle and they are taking us seriously. Isak is told unceremoniously he's going nowhere or we get a stupid amount of money for him and it gets spent immediately on making sure Howe has all the tools he needs to make ripples in the season ahead. We'd do worse than to bring Staveley back, even just for this window to sort us out, in hindsight she has been an enormous miss as no one above Howe seems to care too much and she cared about every fine detail. Sliding doors moment, give Isak his improved terms, bolster the squad and refuse his move or sell him to someone outside the league and use the money to seriously improve the squad, anything else is unacceptable and shows us as weak and not a serious club. Remember that the club is bigger than one person, Isak has played a part in our accession and maybe it’s time to move on and upwards, we still have a good core of the team. The Prophet
Selling Isak is just a symptom of the cause though, the game is a dumpster fire at the moment. I'm generally optimistic about NUFC, there were always going to be bumps in the road, but football itself is just becomes less and less appealing by the year. Even before the lack of transfer activity, we're going into what should be an exciting European campaign and I just can't get up for it at all. I was absolutely distraught when Cole left as a 12 year old, but we ended up better off not long after when Ferdinand and then Shearer came in. Players will come and go. Some will stay and be legends, but many are passing through. I’m not really getting the profound sense of shock tbh. Liverpool have had their own players wanting to leave through the years. Rice left West Ham, Grealish left Villa. It’s nothing to do with being allowed to be ‘elite’. Eales always said we needed to start trading. People are obsessed with ‘sell on value’ whenever we sign anyone. Basically, the most important thing is the overall direction we are heading in. If we only ever sell players of a low value, the overall progression will be slower.
Ikon
What worries me the most isn’t Isak leaving. Obviously it will make the players think and talk and have doubts and so on. The worst thing about it is us not doing enough in this window. IF we do then the players will think alright he might be leaving but that’s football, the club is really strengthening in every way possible so things being sorted and we move on and be stronger overall. It would give them a massive boost. The opposite of not doing enough is what worries me a lot. This is supposed to be a massive window in every way. To be entirely honest I’m almost certain now that we’ll do not even near enough, unfortunately. I just can’t see us bringing 4-5 players in. The feel good factor, unity and momentum can be so so quickly washed away. So much negative noise around the place as well as lack of direction and structure above Eddie. Players are human, it will affect them. Having said that, I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to be more wrong. Please prove me wrong. Also, If there’s any group of players that can and will fight through this then it’s these ones. The club needs to do everything possible now to help. It’s time for the people in charge to really sort things out.

Been sick of the PL's bullshit for years now When we ditched Rafa and got Bruce in, I pretty much "quit" football altogether. My dad would ring me up every Saturday as always, asking if I'd seen the scores, how Arsenal got jammy again, how pathetic we'd played, how his Millwall were shit as well. And I'd be like yeah, yeah, I don't care dad. And then I lost him in 2021 and my biggest regret was downing tools on football, as we both loved it so much. So I got back into it all, not quite like it was where I'd be all over La Liga as well, but enough. So my long winded point here is that just keep treasuring these times with your dad, despite how fucked up it all is. Sorry if that's totally out of the blue

All that is obvious to everyone. Not keeping it quiet does us no favour. It's already done. Anyone e we try to deal with knows we are looking for an Isak replacement and we have the money from that. Doesn't matter if we ha e or haven't, thats how it'll be tret.
Turnbull2000
You could hardly blame Isak if he believes the owners have lost their ambitions for the club mind. The lack of activity, communication and off-field progress is now startling.

La Parka
If you are thinking of packing football in , go watch non league. It is cheap, they need your support and it's more enjoyable generally (and nostalgic)

Kid Icarus
Both baseless assertions, but a distinction without a difference as both ultimately come down to the club being at fault. Edited July 25, 2025 by Kid Icarus

He's wanting a move to the league champions who are also one of the favourites to win the champions league; whether we like it or not, Liverpool is a lucrative move for any top player at the moment. It's a combination of ambition and money, neither of which we can currently match. We have grown as a club in his time here, but he has grown as a player at a faster rate unfortunately. Even if we could match his wage demands, there's a good chance he'd still want to leave IMO.

STM
We haven't been able to sign players and we have money to spend. We are going to have more money to spend, but im no more confident we will sign players. Forget a replacement for Isak, where is the CB, the goalkeeper, Wilsons replacement, Longstaffs replacement? I would have an entirely different view of this window had we looked remotely competent in the market, as it stands it looks as if we dont have a clue. If we sell Isak, id be surprised if we ended up with a replacement.

I'm fortunate that we've got other things going on, like cricket for example. We'll both sit and watch our side for a good few hours every Saturday and I often find myself comparing that experience with going to SJP, realising that it's a lot less stressful, more chilled and ultimately more preferable than the BS surrounding our support of NUFC. I've got no idea how everyone can keep a straight face when discussing PSR.

STM
Somewhere right before the takeover, I decided to watch a formula 1 race over a Newcastle game. I was absolutely fed up with the game. Certain clubs aren't allowed to compete. It's really glaring and nobody is doing anything about it.

Bizarrely, I couldn’t switch off even during the darkest depths of Ashley. I think I could more easily now. My view of the wider game (PSR, PL etc.) is wildly different. same here re ashley. it's weird. i feel more deflated today than i ever did with ashley. i think it's because we had the promise and hope before, even when it was low for so long. now it's just like what's the point. nothing we can do to ever properly compete so why bother. but as i say, there's no getting out of it. it's part of me and i'm stuck with it for life
