Isak was going to go next summer, it’s just the way this has all come about leaves a bad taste in your mouth and will lead to rushed chaotic recruitment before the deadline. Money from

Isak could lead to a squad revamp but we haven’t exactly proved we can get deals sorted quickly have we.

Agree with this. First day I think I was resigned to him leaving but let's see how it pans out. He could easily have another 25 goal season for us.

Don't think there's another person I would back to persuade Isak into staying, getting his head right & performing at an elite level for Newcastle 2025/2026

If Eddie can't do it then the lads not the person / character Eddie thought he was & if thats the case (whatever has gone on) he should leave as quickly as possible for everyones sakes.

The world will keep spinning, Eddie will continue to be the alchemist he's proven to be with players & we will still be a formidable force in the PL, something we could of only dreamed about a little less than 4 years ago, any "tapping up" that has gone on imo is fair game, we do it, the cartel do it, everyone does it, no amount of twisting will change it.

100%. The thing that's pissed me off the most isn't Isak leaving, it's the whole circus around it. From Liverpool fans getting huffed and being wankers on social media, the so called ITK journalists sensationalising everything, agents being rats and every one in between that feels they are some how part of the process.  

 

Then there's Isak himself who hasn't went about it the right way.

We need to just get through this summer as best we can then get the CEO and director of football situation sorted asap. We can’t go on in the current situation. The club also needs to pull its finger out with stadium plans, sponsorship etc. it’s got the feeling of being a bit rudderless currently.

Wonder who 'the club' involved in the discussions with Isak are that Eddie refers to. Doubt it's Yasir, we have no CEO, and the lads who've been put in charge of our football transfers have a humiliation fetish.

 

I can't believe anyone in our position would sell him to Liverpool or another PL club, but they've shown themselves to be such utter pushovers this summer that I think they'll manage it and rubberstamp easily the worst Newcastle transfer window of my lifetime.

While I wholeheartedly agree with this,  we are screwed from being number 1 in this PSR world. When other clubs can offer double the wages we’re always going to be at risk of losing top players to other teams and players having their heads turned.

Whilst we could get a striker that chips in 15 (and they would have too if we are to finish top half), you can’t put a price on a player that scares opposition before the game has even started.

 

Isak is in that zone where defences are thinking about him before game has started, always trying to second guess his actions, doubting themselves. Fact he’s regularly bullied VVD and Gabriel/Saliba also scares other teams. All that then affords more space and time for our other attackers. It’s that stuff you can’t quantify with stats, but happens because of the aura.

Interesting that he said there were no contract talks going on, but that there may be potentially at a later date.

 

I can't help but wonder if any contract talks have not been pushed forward past surface discussions, as we've been waiting for the CEO and DOF hires to be confirmed first, so they could play some part in advising on that too.

 

May be a source of the frustration from Isak's end, especially after we already botched the situation last year.

If our ambition is to push on, we have to sell and reinvest as wisely as we’ve done to date under PIF. I’d have a different view if the player clearly didn’t want off. Let’s get the absolute maximum we can for him, replace him, bring in more high-level signings and ideally raise the ceiling on salaries to try and prevent this from happening next summer with another player we love.
