The fear is, we'll get the Isak we had in the last 8 games of the season.

We all thought he was injured, but maybe his performances, or lack thereof, was a reflection of him being completely checked-out mentally.

He was clearly injured. Don't let this summer conflict with reality.

Even in the cup final when he was fully motivated to win, you could see him struggling. Do you remember a moment he was through 2nd half and tried to sprint and looked like he was running backwards.

The thing that blows my mind the most about this episode is how many people have bought into the evidence free narrative that Isak ‘downed tools’. It’s such a shit cliche anyway but it’s actually highly offensive to Eddie Howe.

i have said this before and was roundly ignored but there is 0% chance that the decision to not bring Isak on tour and let him train in Northern Spain was not 100% Eddie Howe’s. It may have been desired by Isak and his entourage, we have no ideas of that. One thing is certain is that Eddie would not allow any player to undermine his authority. It’s such a shit, unrealistic take that lends from tool workers in factories not elite high performance management. As fucking if it wasn’t Eddie’s decision.

So Howe could force him to fly to Asia? How would he do that - at gun point?

You could argue that it wasn’t in Isak’s interests for us to qualify for the Champions League as if we hadn’t it may well have made his exit easier.

I’m not convinced it’s over. If they can sell Nunez they’ll be back. It’s going to be a long 4 weeks

Hopefully the lack of movement is PIF realised it's the wrong move - can't see anyone else coming in for Nunez

Point is, they might have money anyway. But do they NEED Isak for 150 million? They have 1 left winger, quite a weak cover for Salah, and 2,5 CBs. I think Isak is just not worth 150 million for them.

Why would we want to lock ourselves into paying him more and selling him for less? No upside for us at all.

Pay him more to keep him happy for 12 months, sell him for slightly less because he’s down to his last 2 years.

I don’t think Isak will give them 4 weeks time.

Put yourself in Isaks perspective, how would you interpret this offer? 110m?

It’s definitely not over they will be back. They clearly want him for 130 million ish and hope by low balling us we’ll compromise.

They’ll also be hoping that Isak continues his refusal to play and feigns injury to force our hand.

Let him rot on the bench and play Lascelles up front if necessary.

It isn't compromise we don't gain anything.

You gain motivation. Its a very important year. A mid place in the table and an early exit out of Champions league would be massive set back.

Aye I think they go in for Rodrygo, think he was rumoured to be available for £70m.

Said it before said it again. Fuck that. We absolutely should not reward him for this shit show and we absolutely should not limit what we could get for him. He’s not deciding to now stay out of goodwill he’s potentially staying because  Liverpool massively underbid for him

at this point I’d be very much against a new contract and a release clause

Unfortunately we’re dealing with Elite Sportsman, and this particular one happens to be one of the best strikers on the planet right now. If we want him to stay for 12 months we’ll need him to perform 1. So we have a good season 2. So he maintains he value. if that means an extra £50k a week then it’s a good investment from us.
