If I was Newcastle, id be phoning PSG, Real, Barca and Bayern.... fuck it, even Chelsea and seeing if I could entice them in.

Send him to Barcelona on loan for a year, let him score a bag full in Spain, hold his value,  and then sell him to someone other than Liverpool next summer.

There's not a chance he plays for us again and in all fairness, it looks like he has pretty much annoyed a lot of people.

Eddie's comments the other day about 'earn the right to train with us', shows that even he seems irked by Isak's behaviour and why wouldn't he be.

Yes I get the whole 'PIF have come out saying he's not for sale', but ultimately for the greater good of the football club (and this is something which Howe has re-iterated time and time again), you don't want someone like Isak currently, dragging the harmony and bond of the group down and there would also be friction between him and his team mates for the way he has behaved. My personal view is it doesn't make PIF or us look like we are going back on our word about him not being for sale. If someone is behaving like Isak is, yes he is forcing a deal, and yes it could set a precedent but I really don't think the other lads in the team would go this far to get a move.

Yes he is quality, but he's burned too many bridges and basically stuck the V's up at the club and staff.

Bit hard to "extract maximum value" if you're basically announcing that he must be sold.

What's to stop Liverpool now lowballing us even more?

That is my concern too - if they believe we have to sell they will almost certainly not raise their offer and may lower it. Isak only wants to join them allegedly so they don’t need to worry about competition at this point

I really dont want Isak to go, especially to Liverpool, but I'm excited for the refresh it could potentially mean for our squad.  Sesko, Wissa, Guehi, Ramsdale, Elanga and another high quality central midfielder would have us looking infinitely stronger than the start of last season IMO, even with Isak gone.

Fuck me lads, I dont know how many times this needs to be said. With or without Sesko, we dont need to sell Isak this summer.

We could sell him next summer, no issues whatsoever and the idea that nobody else would be interested in the best striker on the planet apart from Liverpool is nonsense. The whole reason Liverpool are doing this now, is to try and get him early.

No matter how much Isak may want it, we dont have to sell to them and if he had another big hitter at the table, im sure he could be convinced.

He will go though, and it will be to Liverpool and it will be something like 140m.

My suspicion is that behind the scenes Eddie has decided he wants him gone. In public he’s being diplomatic and suggesting he could stay, but in private he’s probably pissed off and wants him replaced. He picked this lads career up off its knees and look at the thanks he’s received.

Would be quite a quick decision for Eddie given he might not even have spoken to Isak yet.

What's the point in the rest of your post when you're saying he'll go anyway? That's what people are reacting to

Pretty sure this is the case, but the thought of rewarding both Isak and Liverpool's behaviour by giving them what they want makes me feel sick.

Happy to have rid of him just not to them.

Because people keep claiming that somehow our position is weakened. Hes got 3 years. There's no logical reason for us to sell him on the cheap and no amount of outside bullshit or shenanigans should make that happen.

My opinion is that we want 150m and that Liverpool will likely get to around 140 and we will deal.

Liverpool have to sign him now or never. Next summer his price will be virtually the same and there will be competition.

It’s a must not lose game, especially if Isak went. Don’t even want to think of the optics if we lose Isak, then open season with a defeat to Villa away then lose to Liverpool at home as the media rub it in.

Swap deal plus cash for Ramos

I know its a pipe dream but i would absolutely love it if we won the EPL title this season by pipping Liverpool and Isak to top spot.

Ramsdale spraying it about from the back, Hugo in Burn's back pocket, Bruno bossing the midfield with his capoeira tackles and our new 6'5 behemoth opening his account. Two-zip and into the night.

That's the only scenario in which I see us agreeing to sell him this season, but even then Liverpool would have to come in with an acceptable bid, which I'm not sure they will.

From what I’ve heard, probably the biggest problem we’ll have IF Isak was to stay would be reintegrating him into the squad. The level of anger from some of our players towards his behaviour has apparently been significant.

Joelinton to knock him out confirmed.

I don't see why we would've been leaking all that stuff about integrating him again if Eddie had decided he was gone. Also don't think Eddie would necessarily have that power personally over such a valuable asset.

It's looking like he will leave but I doubt that is the reason. I think Eddie would give him a chance if he stayed.

Including those he's been closer to in the past?

Eddie is ambitious, he will always want to keep his best players if there's a way back. He'd want to at least sit Isak down and lay out what his plans are for this season and that our ambition is second to none. He'll be pissed at the suggestion that Liverpool are considered above our station.

That home game against them when they had Enrique playing for them was one of the best/most intimidating atmospheres i can remember. That shat themselves
