Especially with the £15m pure profit from Longstaff or whatever it was. Won't be able to spend a decent chunk of money on a CB and a CM without a Isak sale though. Thumbheed
I don't actually think this is the smartest move and just further antagonises an already volatile situation. Tell him straight up he can leave if he can find a club that's willing to pay £150m plus. Put the onus entirely on Liverpool to make his wishes come true. Find that hard to believe he downed tools. If howe is making him train away now, why would he keep playing him back end of last season when chasing for UCL if he was putting in no training effort and his data that’s monitored in game is showing he’s running X% less? Wilson would’ve started some games in that case instead of always coming off bench.

Here's a fucking idea, don't sign a big contract without verbalising or having it stitched into the contract you wish to leave within a couple of years? I honestly believe we would begrudgingly accept he's going as long as a value we feel is apt is met and he made the club well aware, hell, I had come to expect this next summer in any case. We need big money from big players when it comes to them going, yet isak is actively fucking us over to get what he wants, tough fucking tits mate. My favourite Reddit hobby late at night when the baby is refusing to sleep is to have a gander on r/soccer and r/liverpoolfc and ask them about Coutinho. Simone Biles ain't got shit on the sort of gymnastics on display there about why them holding out and getting Barcelona to go from 60m to 142m is actually different. midds
We'll never know but I honestly think that if Isak and Liverpool had gone about this professionally and genuinely then he'd already have been signed a few weeks ago. Had Isak just remained professional, got himself fit, went on tour and tried his best then I think Howe would have been reasonable and started to agree a sensible fee. He's now painted himself into a corner. He's refusing to play, Howe's refusing to let him train with the squad, Liverpool are in the background pretending to do nothing but continually briefing the shills on SM. A completely different approach by those cunts and he's probably already in a red shirt. All they've done is ensure the whole thing is now messy and very expensive as a direct consequence of their cuntishness

The door is still open for that bid without publicly inviting it on and conceding ground in negotiations. “Extremely unlikely”, aka, £150m+ and the extremely unlikely sale is on. Jesse Pinkman
This agreement for a wage increase is a load of bollocks. He made a verbal agreement with someone who since left. Everyone knows if you don’t get an agreement in writing it means fuck all. He’s using it as an excuse to garner sympathy from the fans when really he just wants to fuck off to Liverpool. So long as half or near half of the fans of the buying club think they've overpaid, I'm happy for Isak to go anywhere. Harvey Eliott doing so well as a U21 player, and scoring more goals against PSG than the rest of the Liverpool squad, shows the lad is raring to go when actually given a chance in big games. There is also the elephant in the room of who we can actually convince to come to NUFC. There are alternatives but they'll all have "we know you've got 100M to spend" pricetags. In the U21s Eliott was way better than McAtee.

Only in their skewed reality. Absolute horseshit from the scousers, that. We aren't the first club to tell a player to suck it up, and we certainly won't be the last. How about your club make a sensible offer for him? That would be a good start.

If we say he’s for sale for 150m it just empowers those goons to put in a derisory 135m offer. If we say he’s not for sale then they have to match what we’re asking for. Time to remind everyone that he’s our player and he goes when it suits us.

This whole move can only happen if we are destressed into selling cheaper. The fact they paid so much for Wirtz really demonstrates that even 150 is a great deal for a player of Isaks quality. Toon1984
It’s a case of maybe losing money now but to earn a lot more in future when our other top players move on. Which other PL club would accept selling Isak for only 100 million? Of course, it’s another effect of PSR. Not only is it designed to make us lose out on players to the cartel clubs but also to accept low ball offers from them through desperation. I’m glad to see the club showing some balls and Isak not getting his way for behaving abysmally.

I'm just suggesting that we'd have been far more willing to negotiate a price as opposed to digging our heels in and rejecting every offer less than what we're after. Had they been reasonable then I think we would have done so to. Now we have no option but to match their energy and play it as hard as possible. Not a penny less than what we're after, all up front, no extras, no clauses etc. Bleed the sly cunts dry

I think this summer was meant to be about sorting out the pressing needs and then we address striker next summer. It's a big reason why we are in such a shambles atm. What they are willing to pay simply aren't serious offers.

Emotic
The point where they submitted a "formal bid" for Alexander Isak, which was 7 million pounds LESS than an untested Florian Wirtz, was the point where I was convinced that Liverpool was in it just to bully us. Exactly. Sky Sports have spent the last 18 months telling everyone and their dog that Isak is the best striker in the world, and we won't be able to keep hold of him. All of a sudden, he isn't worth £150m and is overpriced? Both cannot be true.
