I think a fair chunk of the genuine fans of Liverpool see it that way. It’s just the Twitter and TT (mostly Irish) lot that seem to be ignoring his attitude.

Glad to hear that. It seems like everyone else sees us as some hostage taking cunts with no regard for a young man's career.

Might not even be about Liverpool anymore though, might be sheer desperation out of thinking he dug the hole to deep and he is too cowardly to face the crowd, or simply don't want to be playing in front of fans he knows resent him.

Yesterday my view was sell him when we get the right bid.

Today, let him rot for a year. He’s not for sale.

If the agent was thinking this leak might make Isak leaving more likely, I think he might be very badly mistaken.

Therein lies the problem. After this ultimatum, Liverpool might lower their bid rather than up it, knowing that a) there isn't any other bidder that Isak would go to; and b) Isak has stated he would never play for us again. Someone is trying to force an exit, for cheap.

I think they will up their bid a little, say 120m + 10m addons.

I would take that. I never want to see him play for us ever again, and the alternative of just letting him rot hurts the club too much.

Well if it came down to that, the option now is to get a Saudi club to bid 150million pounds for him, with a 50% sell-on clause. We accept the bid. However it is conveyed to him, he can be told Liverpool can have him the next year for whatever price the Saudis accept.

Either Liverpool match their bid this round (ok by me); or he joins the Saudis (ok by me, and ought to be for him too, since "he's adamant" he won't be playing for us); or he stays with us and suffers the humiliation of somehow having to play for us again, and us possibly still asking too much for him next season.

Sounds like Saudi Plan is the way to go, benefits all parties.

I hate unsalvagable situations but if that's the way he wants it :dontknow:   the club will be around a lot longer than his career will. Off to the reserves with ye.

For the first time since the option was brought up I am thinking he might just wait until the 27th and pull the article 17 shenanigans, and hope Liverpool will just wait on him.

What is article 17?

If the 2 weeks before end of season timeline is correct, and I'm thinking conspiratorially, Mitchell could've been getting some flak off the the back of this news if he is indeed the one who didn't want to give Isak a new contract. Wonder if the pressure from on high after Isak dropped this info led to Mitchell sacking us off like the prick he seems to be. /tinhat

Not when it's now been revealed that he's used the same injury as a cover for downing tools

In the Man U game, our go-ahead goal features Harvey Barnes steaming in to finish a Murphy pullback that would be meat and drink to any center forward. Wilson would anticipate it 10 out of 10 times. Isak can be seen on his heels miles away. When Barnes then scores again from a turnover, Isak makes a run but its half hearted and he doesn't seem that bothered that he didn't get the ball. The same when their keeper hit it at Big Joe and Bruno scored. A hungry Isak would scream for the ball.

I remember watching the game and thinking Isak was injured or didn't have Shearer or even Wilson level moocher instincts.

If he wanted it that badly, he'd hand in a formal transfer request at the liability of his own loyalty bonuses etc.

Greedy bastard can't be that desperate

Until a transfer request goes in and a statement comes direct from him, all this noise is just his agent and Liverpool trying dirty tactics to get us to sell.

I'd take what we can, even £120m. Then be straight into legal proceedings at isak for the remaining £30m as he's damaged the clubs asset with his behaviour and behind the scenes games.

Article 17 is fifa's rules around transfers and such. the TL;DR is if he stays at here until the 26th, he’ll be past the "three-year protected period" under Article 17 of his contract, which mean that then he could legally end the contract by paying compensation on his remaining wages and sign immediately with whoever he wants. It's a super bad look for a lot of reasons but they're setting fire to every bridge that gets built so what else are they hoping for?
