Seems a little bit far-fetched to me.

He’s a social media spin doctor who makes himself available for hire by the football industry, it’s not difficult to get your head around the role he plays for his clients

I understand it gives him a way out but if he'd been honest then he would have almost certainly got his move and he wouldn't have needed a way out

He's decided to go down this route and anything he says should the move not happen is irrelevant. He's now made himself a pariah, he's an outcast, his mates have washed their hands of him. There is no coming back from this, his actions this last 6 weeks have sealed the whole thing completely off. He can deny it all he wants, Newcastle fans and players aren't daft, they know exactly what he's deliberately engineered here. He's fucking toast here imo

I don’t necessarily disagree really, obviously he is on borrowed time here and I do think there’s a lot to be said for just getting rid and moving on.

That said, there are some arguments for digging our heels in and keeping him another year IMO.

First off, we have clearly missed out on the strikers at the top of our list this summer. We will probably get Wissa or someone of that level, a solid PL player who will do a good job this year when called upon. However, we will want to use a large chunk of the Isak money on a player we think can get to a similar level to him. Missing out on Pedro, Ekitike and Sesko means we’re left with the next tier of options, players like Jackson who come with some real concerns or players like Aghehowa who might be a bit too raw to feel good about spending that much money on. There’s plenty to be said for waiting a year when we will have had our new SD in place for a season to identify the right targets and make the deal happen.

It also sends a pretty clear message to the likes of Tonali, Livramento and Hall, players who may end up in a similar situation in a couple of years with the truly elite clubs coming for them. Letting Isak go after the way he has carried on tells them if they really want a move, they should do the same thing. We’ve seen how this has derailed our season preparation, we don’t want to go through this again. Send a clear message that if you want to leave, this is not the way to go about it.

There’s also PSR to think about. We still have our healthy 23/24 figure that will factor into next summer’s calculations. We likely aren’t in the worst spot in terms of PSR, even with some hefty spending this summer. However, if we push the Isak sale until after the end of June next year, it will be part of the calculation all the way up until summer 2029, which will allow us to have breathing room for an extra year compared to if we sell this summer.

It probably won’t be harmonious, but if he’s still here come September 2nd he will eventually be back in the fold and will be a really useful player for us in a season where we are in the CL and want to solidify ourselves as a regular force in Europe.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s a horrible cunt for how he has gone on. However, I do think there’s a lot to be said for playing hardball here.

Completely agree and I've said earlier today I'd be a twat and make him stay. I'm not suggesting that we give in and sell him on the cheap, quite the opposite tbh. I'm just saying that had he gone about things differently and actually been honest and upfront about things then it would have been easier to swallow and been more likely to be successful for him.

Everything you've said I'm in agreement with, I don't think you've realised where I was coming from, I'd be as strong as fuck here and not give an inch either, as you say. But the other players wanting him out is big, their opinions carry far more weight than we assume, if they all want him gone then he'll probably go. I was just having a pop at his lack of backbone and cowardice tbh :aww:

Livrael doing their best to steer the narrative, but surely even Trump can see through this act.

Certainly shown how many paid stooges they have under their belt and who can be trusted. Says something when Edwards, Gabby, Pardew & Jordan can either see through it or can't stand the way him, his agent and Liverpool have gone about it.

If its not to Liverpool, id accept the same price Liverpool offered to any other club outside the PL. Id snap your hands up for 130m to Saudi.

Same..with a sell on clause

Despite the fact that I think there probably were some missed opportunities by the club here, I have fully come around to the opinion that Isak is being a total cunt here. I’d make him stay unless they meet the valuation.

What leverage does he really have to force a move through? It hurts him tremendously to refuse to play beyond the transfer deadline.

Not that I want to defend them, but people need to remember that the likes of Romano and Ornstein literally make their wages by reporting on transfers. It's in their best interests to stay on the good books with agents, while also reporting as much as possible on big transfers, and possibly even exaggerating figures to make things look as spectacular as possible. Every time I see a tweet from either of them now I take it with a huge pinch of salt and just remember that it's most likely coming from some scumbag agent and that it's worded to make them as much money as possible.

It's a pretty filthy line of work if you ask me, but it makes them both very rich I'd imagine so well done to them I guess.

You're wasted on a redraft league, Shak.

Howay man, they’re already dripping in coin. They’ve debased themselves with lies in order to push propaganda. It’s pathetic

He’s a compulsive liar and attention seeking social media wanksplat who’s being utilised and paid by Liverpool. Don’t believe anything the cunt says

The metamorphosis from being the first to accurately break transfer related news to becoming fluffers on the cartel payroll that he and Ornstein have undergone is quite spectacular.

Spoken to a lot of people over the last few days, some of which are extremely close to the goings on.

It was reiterated to me (I think I’ve mentioned this on here before) that Isak played a big part and was one of the main voices encouraging Elanga to join in late June. See his “heart” comments on Elanga’s Instagram at the time.

Taking it on face value, this is a genuinely weird way of going on.

It's a pretty stock standard transfer drama if you look at what's gone on at other clubs.

We've just been so shit for so long that we had hardly any players worth a saga, and those we did, Fatty was transparent about shipping them out once the price was met.

I'm talking about him heartily encouraging an international teammate to join the club he (presumably) knew he was going to go scorched earth on only a fortnight later in a desperate bid to escape and leave it in a fucked condition. You'd expect low key behaviour, pregnant silences and such, rather than that.

Edited the original quote to make it clearer.

One other thing to consider, and I don’t know the extent to which this plays a part in his decision making, but as far as I know he’s alone here… in Newcastle. His family visit, but he doesn’t have a partner or kids.

That inevitably means he has less ties here… he hasn’t built a life here… he hasn’t got a family invested or intertwined in the community here, helping him make these decisions.

He’s alone, and likely his agent has a huge sway over his day to day and future decisions.

Contrast that to other players who are truly settled here… Bruno, Big Joe, Gordon, Barnes, Sven… they’re all fully invested in the community.

Oh, that I agree with.  Which is why I've never bought into the "Isak had the Liverpool crest tattooed on his bicep the night after the League Cup and has been sabotaging us for months" narrative.

Liverpool and his agent got into his ear at the start of July, no doubt promising riches, trophies and that a leaderless Newcastle would roll right on over once the pressure was applied.

“anything woke” FFS

I don’t see why people get irritated by things like this or when people describe a lot of things in sport as “utter woke nonsense”. It’s clearly being used in a semi-ironic way here judging by that tweet. Bit different to calling people woke because they’re standing up against racism or the like.

Oh yeah in other news, Isak’s a knob.

That would imply he's as thick as pigshit though, as he otherwise should've known/believed those things prior to being approached and supposedly having his world turned upside down in July.

Never saw him as an impulsive cretin, he's generally looked to be forward thinking and ambitious. Still odd to me.
