I can remember being in the Gallowgate the last time we beat these fuckers at SJP and singing 'Jose Enrique, we're in the top 6' as he replaced Reina in goal after he had kicked up to move for ambition purposes. To be fair to him, he had a lot better argument for it at that point in our history, but it was still a great moment of schadenfreude that would be eclipsed a few times over if we could get a result on Monday.

Sorry but this is bollocks. He’s not leaving for £120m, never mind £90m.

We can still fetch (well) north of £100m next summer, when his book value will be less - I think it works like that anyway.

When an unproven player is moving to the Premier League for £116m, then a striker who’s universally considered top 5 in Europe with a proven track record in PL will get north of £100m, even with 2 years left. Even Enzo Fernandez was over £100m after a good World Cup nearly 3 years ago. I’m confident that we will get what’s been bid this summer, next summer.

Standards need to be set. Mike Ashley doesn’t own us anymore.

I suspect that his agent has received very little in encouragement from any of the big clubs that they will be likely to be bidding over £100m for him in a year's time and / or NUFC would be prepared to sell them either.  If he believed that such a deal was likely would he be adopting such a scored earth policy to try to force the sale to Liverpool now?

After a sleep his statement does seem targeted towards the exec team with the only comments on the playing squad and fans being to thank them. Put that together with the last couple of lines in the clubs statement and you can see a way back in for him.

Best solution for me atm would be to get around the table and agree a new 5 year deal with a small pay bump and massive bonus potential with a release clause that is active in each June of the contract. Then its on the bench for Monday and we look to bring in a Jackson on a loan with obligation (subject to criteria being met in the season) and just make the best of it

I was just about to post that. Its an good video, using the Isak situation to as a jumping off point to discuss why the transfer market is fucking shite. There is nothing particularly new in there, but its a good summation.

yes, a useful summary of how the industry is a massive con and full of nefarious bullshit artists centred around one thing: money

Bayern will be looking to replace Kane, Barca will be looking to replace Lewandowski. Give him a couple of weeks to sort his shit out, tell him he can go abroad for in excess of £100m next summer if he scores 20+ this season and put it in writing. We get another season with a 20+ goalscorer, Bayern or Barca get a player below market value (although with only 2 years left on current deal) and Liverpool get fuck all. There's as many assumptions in this paragraph as there is in yours - the only thing any of us can actually do is just see how it plays out as all else is simply guesswork.

1) Agent brokers deal for Isak that at the time seems excellent terms and dough for a player with this record.

2) Player is coached up and turns out to be better than expected.

3) Agent and player now unhappy because the deal that seemed to be in their favour now appears not to be.

4) Agent and player forget anything the club and coach has done for them, and act like complete twats

5) The end

Fuck me, liverpool's fans are really the new man u fans.

I used to quite like them, similar city background to ourselves. They can just fuck right off now though.

Absolute entitled wankers.

Liverpool fans have been like this my entire football following existence tbh.

I can't stand them, I get the impression that people who think this is new behaviour just haven't had the "privilege" of having to interact with them until this shit show.

They've always been massive, massive cunts.

Again, I’m afraid this just won’t be the case. There’ll be plenty clubs who’d nibble if the price dropped and rightly so.

His agent will know he’ll have more suitors next year, for sure. He’s just trying to seize an opportunity to go to Liverpool now as they’re obviously huge and currently very good. If Barca come knocking next summer I’m pretty sure he’d be happy enough with them and would likely knock Liverpool back for them if it was a straight choice.

Barca, Bayern and PSG will potentially all be in the market for a striker next year, he will have plenty options. Dare I say he’d have been sold this summer if the only option was one of them 3.

Jim White gives the game away here. Says Isak's agent doesn't want to speak publicly but "hopes they can get a coffee together sometime". This is what his agent does.

Can we lace Lemic’s coffee with polonium? Litvanenko the cunt.

I don't think it's on Staveley or Mitchell here. He's being an absolute prick.

100%.

"The club have broken promises", but he's not going to expand on that...

As others have pointed out, this whole thing kicked up after the Austria tour and before the Asian one, which just happens to coincide with when Liverpool started prepping a convenient low-ball offer.

Not one mention of this falling out last season, even from reporters who claim they knew about it all along. It's all just spin to try and make him look like less of a cunt for downing tools.

Maybe promises were broken, but it's not why he's on strike. He's on strike because he's a tapped-up Scouse pick.

If he also said ages ago he was off, he would’ve surely told the players too? Otherwise there would be no potential final goodbyes if the transfer was done in off season.

Keep seeing Liverpool fans compare this to Wissa and Gordon too :D Makes no sense.

God I hope we beat them Monday. Proper knock them down a few pegs.
