KetsbaiaIsBald
Imagine you’re Isak. You pick up an injury after the cup final and you know it’s knocked 5–10% off your game. For the rest of the season your form drops badly. People forget the injury, but you know that if you stay at Newcastle for another season, everyone will start to think this is just the level you’re at now — that you’re not quite the player you once were. At that point, the big payday might be gone. Knowing it’s now or never, wouldn’t you do everything possible to secure a move this summer? SEMTEX
Maybe the lad is actually a hero who really loves the toon so much that he knew it was best for him to leave? He knew he was fucked so he milked the scousers for as much money as possible before eventually returning to his home planet? Jaqen
I remember the thinking being we should force him to stay this season as there's no way his value could drop that much below £125m in 12 months. Wed be lucky to get half of that based on this seasons performances

toon25
How many signings for 100+ million have ended up being successful? The only one I can't think of is Neymar - in no small part owing to the step down in quality between L1 and La Liga

Some of them with entire squads assembled for less than you paid for the rat. Perhaps fleshing out a squad which is apparently stretched too thin would've been a better way to spend >230m than buying a hobbit and a heartless twig with a groin made of spaghetti as vanity signings! They range from 'good player but overpaid' to 'daylight robbery'. IMO, Rice is the only one close to being good value for money, time will tell for the Liverpool 3 but realistically only Ekitike has looks like he has a chance of being considers a good buy Edited December 12, 2025 by Moose

Spent almost 100m to "bring him home", only for him to keep banging on about how much he hates Chelsea and wants to leave. Literally days after the move. Nobody
Rice is easily worth 100m for Arsenal. His set pieces alone is what might just win them the league
Colos Short and Curlies
Yeah Rice has justified the fee and probably would go for more now. Caceido is improving at Chelsea but is no where near a £100m player. The rest are pisstakes
