I was told we were lucky that Ugarte and Mainoo didn't start against us as they stopped us playing once the change was made.

Interesting. Looks like Aribo and Ugochukwu are having a grand old time against them for this powerhouse Southampton side.

Mancs are defo in a relegation battle. Make no mistake about it. :)

As amusing as it would be they really aren't

Easily 3-4 teams worse than them

Even if they lost today (they won't) they'll still be 7 points above safety

Ref is a homer like

He's trying to get a Southampton player sent off second half for sure with those yellows he was handing out to them at the end there.

Fools if they think that, the reality is we saw the game out, just as we did against Spurs and Arsenal

I do wonder whether Amorim's system just doesn't work in English football.

Any formation that has 2 CMs and one of them isn’t a Kante type, it won’t work consistently in Prem.

Teams have too much energy and movement in the middle, so will take advantage. Bet Amorim can’t believe how competent a bottom side is in this league compared to Portugal.

I think they have just wasted so much money. Despite all the millions they’ve spent. They have so many players who just look a bit ‘meh’ and lack the X factor you’d expect them to have. Considering the price tag and…. “This is Manchester United” (Gary Neville voice).

They should still have enough to do a lot better than that against Southampton, mind.

I do think it can work but not with the current players he has

To begin with he needs proper wing backs, then a better midfielder and a top striker

Get those 4 and I think they'll improve a fair bit

Tend to agree, not sure any manager can whip these lads into a functioning unit.

Yep, they’re right in the shite as a result - a squad full of players with shocking attitudes, and mostly on wages that would put them out of reach of a sale even if they didn’t have poor character.  They’re in real trouble.

Yoro looks good.

Sulemana is rinsing the guy inside out.

You know ... I was told he was 'much better' than Maguire already and would start ahead of him no problem.

I must say. It sure looks like it on this evidence.

When it was put to Amorim has he considered playing a system that suits the players he has and he said that would be a betrayal of his principals and they may as well get another manager in instead I think that told you everything you needed to know.

Man u have spent over £500 million over the past 5 years and have nothing to show for it. We spent £360 million and have purples in at least 75% of our positions.
