I don't go in as hard on our transfer policy as others but you do wonder, given the recent failures, how much we're sinking ourselves into this sort of stuff. 

We are probably way behind the curve unfortunately. We have a lot of old boys and nothing about what we do screams being on the cutting edge.

He's still really good and probably will be for years but I think Spurs played it perfectly. Selling a 30-year-old striker for almost 100m in the age of FFP is something you can't really pass on if the opportunity is there. Regression could always be quick too but I would think Kane should be fine as pace has never really been an asset for him.

Southampton defender Jack Stephens has been handed an additional two game ban after abusing officials in the wake of his sending off against Manchester United.

According to the fourth official, Stephens called him a "f***ing little c***" before returning to call him a "c***" one more time, while he used the same insult when referee Stuart Atwell showed him the red card ten minutes before fulltime.

I don’t know who needs to know this, but the Theatre Royal have a play version of the film Purely Belter (Season ticket as the book was called) on until Saturday night. Performances tomorrow, Friday night, Saturday midday, and Saturday evening.

Has there been any discussion on this imminent ruling on the Liassa Diarra case regarding transfers?

 

If they rule that he was unfairly restricted from moving his trade could mean that players will find it substantially easier to break their contracts. It will likely mean an independent body being set up to detirmine value of contracts that clubs will have to compensate when purchasing players but would essentially end the ability of clubs to keep hold of players 'against their will', if a player wants to break a contract they can and the buying club just has to accept whatever compensation is agreed by the body. 

 

This will be catastrophic for smaller clubs dependent on player sales as the compensation will almost certainly be significantly lower. It will be simply illegal to stop say man city coming in for Bruno mid contract. As such player contracts will be worth a lot less. It will presumably mean cost of players will be substantially less but it will be impossible to prevent man city (and maybe us once ffp is all evened out) from just assembling who we like based on players. I would anticipate wages spiking as a means of pricing out clubs coming in for players. 

 

A total clusterfuck in otherwords. Interesting if any other takes on it to be honest, i think it will likely be slightly less dramatic than that but looks a possibility.
