Its mad to think that id be happier with our second choice centre back pairing than that of Man Utd

Which is why the whole "they've spent a billion quid" argument is stupid. It was spent on absolute dross by a waste of a board.

Maguire and Pogba account for £170m of that like.

Maguire used to be good

He's still good. But is good good enough? And is good worth £80m?

He's much more suited to a back 5 or teams sitting deep. It was fine with us when we were solely counter attacking and didn't care about controlling games.

He's out of his depth now. The drop off from Varane and Martinez to Maguire is staggering.

He was never worth £80m (you can check back my posts from when he signed) but you’re massive marks when it comes to recruitment so Leicester rightly ripped you off.

Would hugely prefer Man United to get CL ahead of Spurs mind if we do achieve the unbelievable.

In his first season he was definitely good enough and was performing at a high level, though ofc not worth £80m.

Something's obviously happened with him mentally during his time at the club. He's been an absolute mess since then.

You are still mostly a counter-attacking team that sit fairly deep tbf. Third lowest defensive line actions in the league ahead of only Bournemouth and Forest.

Before people say Villa are now in the top 4 race look at the table and their fixtures.

It’s actually good for us if they keep playing well. They may take points off Spurs or Man United. If they overtake us though we’ve collapsed entirely.

Just need to make sure we beat Spurs which is what we needed anyway. 9 points from Man Utd at home plus West Ham, Brentford and Villa away is more than we'd have expected.

Aren’t those fixtures good for them ?

Can’t see Villa turning into Man City and winning every game like but we need to be careful we’re not looking at today as the moment our season went to shit if they finish above us.

Forget about today and just fucking beat Spurs.

As other posters have said 6 points from these away fixtures has been a greater return.

I will say however I’m a bit taken aback at the sheer gulf in quality between us and Villa today. We have been taken apart, it was never a close game.

It’s a bit concerning, especially with Spurs up next.

Villa will come unstuck at some point over the next few games, as good as they've been. We just need to get the win against Spurs next week and I think we will.

There's no way we come out next week anything other that raring to go.

This is it, for me. Trying to remain positive after that absolute shitshow. But I thought 5-7 points would be a decent return from the 3 away games. So 6 is bang in the middle and a good haul. Just a shame the loss was off an awful performance.

By the sounds of it. That is by far the worst we have played all season and the only hammering we have taken under Howe since what, Man City away last season? Got to look at the bigger picture.

This result should not define our season. That game seems like the exception to the rule that we’re solid and hard to beat. I’m hoping it’s just a one off!

If we roll over like that and get twatted against Spurs. Then I’ll start to worry.

I would be concerned if we hadn't at the very least matched all the top sides this season when we've played them, was just one of them games today where we didn't even really start.
