Sima
We'd be lauhging if one of Barnes or Gordon were as effective on the right.

I agree, but I just can’t see it. Plus it would be nice with some more creativity and flair on one flank. Especially if we don’t look to play a more creative midfielder. Really hope we do go for Désiré Doue in the summer. Creative, technical and versatile. Is athletic and good at carrying the ball too. We miss something between midfield and attack at times. Having a shorter passing option from deep midfield for Bruno to pass into between the lines at times without Isak having to come too deep would do wonders for us. Also give us some depth forward once we win the ball back in defence. We struggle to gain control of possession way too often once we’ve been too deep. What a season he’s having, and in difficult circumstances given the absence of big hitters around him much of the time. Think how good could he be next season! If he got an injury today that permanently took away some of his explosiveness and reduced his top speed I'm not sure if he would be good enough to play for any team in the PL. His pace, stamina, strength, work rate and off the ball movement/ability to work in our system is currently what makes him a great player for us. Part of what's good about him is I think he's one of the players that will find a way to play and adapt to his circumstances as his career develops. He'll be evolving when he's 31 where others never change after 21. I mean yeah, if you take away his work rate and off the ball intelligence it would damage him badly, but you're talking about a different player at that point. He could adapt of course (though no guarantee he would either), but I was talking about the player he is today.
80
Struggling to get his head around where to be as a centre forward at times today, not attacking the box. Keeps instinctively reverting to his AM role.
David Edgar
His first touch and technique is a real barrier to him being a genuine top level player. Absolutely rancid at key moments today.

TRon
When he was slipped through in the second half he should have just chipped the keeper, instead he tried to go round and his poor touch closed the distance and allowed the goalie to block. Newcastle Fan
Nothing about him suggests he's a striker, decent winger yes but we should just rule him out of this position and get more options.
Aiston
Definitely not a striker at all.
TRon
Not his fault but we probably lost out on his abilities out wide with us having to play him as a striker today.
Ikon
I understand why he played as a striker today. Having said that he MUST start on the left every single time unless an extremely forced situation. I don’t get why we signed Barnes at all, especially at the stage we are at as a club. Mistake imo. (Not because Barnes is a bad player). Weird priority.

(Not because Barnes is a bad player). Weird priority. Originally I imagined we were going for two interchangeable starting elevens to handle the strain of four competitions. Gordon in Milan on Wednesday, Barnes for Forest on Saturday kind of thing. But Eddie's selection policy, even before the injury crisis, seemed to knock that out of the park. I thought Gordon had as good game today, fwiw. Just not the game we needed, but I can't hold it against him. I think with a bit more experience he would come good in that position, but he's just not trained for it in a long time.
Aiston
Seeing that chance again that Almiron put him through for...should have scored 1 v 1 with the keeper basically.

Kid Icarus
His drop off play is decent enough like, it's the positioning when it goes wide he needs to work on. I think he will with time as well, he's a clever player
STM
I still thought he was head and shoulders our most threatening player today. He's about the only positive thing getting me through this sticky patch.
