Rafalove
Played well, as others have said he plays cautiously. Not too much of a bad thing at this stage. Good that it looks like he has more that can come from him.
Pilko
He lost it cheaply a couple of times early doors but after the goal (lovely take it easy too) he was great I thought, seemed to really settle into it.
gbandit
Think our best midfield is Bruno more advanced and then Miley, with Tonali sitting deepest. Bruno is our best slide rule passer and has the best vision. Tonali is the best defensively and snuffing out attacks. Heās also the best at increasing our tempo and getting the ball moving quickly, he can release the ball in any direction. Miley is just great at receiving the ball, holding it and releasing. Heās not got Tonaliās physical attributes or Brunoās vision but heās extremely good at holding the ball and feeding the ball out wide. Heās also got a quality strike on him. In games where we need to break down teams heās a better option than Jow. In games where we need to defend against teams on the break a lot then Jow is probably preferableĀ
Newcastle Fan
I'm a big fan of him ever since he started playing with the first team, he's so calm and composed and does all the right things on the pitch, this season he's been bailing out the more senior place when things go wrong, looking forward to seeing more of him and his development. Smal
I think he does have the vision of Bruno tbh, think thatās his strongest asset. His ball striking looks really good too. Not got great defensive awareness and isnāt as aggressive in tackles as Iād want him to be to play deeper. Imo heāll end up best as the most advanced midfielder of a 3, which is where heās played most for the youth teams afaik.

Perhaps vision is the right word, he is very good at seeing players and knowing whoās available and where to pass it. I just donāt think heās shown that ability to slide passes in that cut through a back line like Bruno does. Mileyās general passing is extremely goodĀ

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Iāve said before that I think heās second to Bruno in passing, although I think Hall is probably that nowadays. However, heās still not on the level of Bruno. Clearly a fantastic player though and still got years of development to goĀ
toon25
He's 18, man. Unbelievable talent. Such a mature player for his age. Ā Surely will be the best we've brought through the academy in many, many, years

jackflap
Seems to have more composure in front of goal than the other options despite his inexperience. More goal contributions are needed from midfield so that alone is a good argument for starting him especially in games they're expecting to be on top. I have more confidence in him in the deeper role than Bruno and I think Bruno is better further forward.Ā Ā I think he looks a lot more mobile than last season and he is good on the ball with the game in front of him.Ā

JLC
From everyone's favourite pundit, Troy Deeney: Ā Lewis Miley (Newcastle): Player of the weekend. Yes, he scored against Forest but he was excellent. At 18 years old it was a coming-of-age performance - he was mature, kept the ball well and ran over people. He made a few mistakes but that was fine, he carried on going and didn't let anything affect him.
