Perhaps vision is the right word, he is very good at seeing players and knowing who’s available and where to pass it. I just don’t think he’s shown that ability to slide passes in that cut through a back line like Bruno does. Miley’s general passing is extremely good

think given his limited minutes for us there’s enough evidence in this video that only Bruno is on his level for those kind of passes in the squad!

I’ve said before that I think he’s second to Bruno in passing, although I think Hall is probably that nowadays. However, he’s still not on the level of Bruno. Clearly a fantastic player though and still got years of development to go

Seems to have more composure in front of goal than the other options despite his inexperience. More goal contributions are needed from midfield so that alone is a good argument for starting him especially in games they're expecting to be on top.

Superb today I thought. Feel like he should play deeper than Bruno, mind and today confirmed that.

Did the opposite for me. Can play deep, but is better when aloud to go forward and join attacks. Tonali, Bruno and Miley is what I want to see.

Nah. I’m not saying he can’t do that. But as daft as it sounds. I have more confidence in him in the deeper role than Bruno and I think Bruno is better further forward.

I think he looks a lot more mobile than last season and he is good on the ball with the game in front of him.

From everyone's favourite pundit, Troy Deeney:

Lewis Miley (Newcastle): Player of the weekend. Yes, he scored against Forest but he was excellent. At 18 years old it was a coming-of-age performance - he was mature, kept the ball well and ran over people. He made a few mistakes but that was fine, he carried on going and didn't let anything affect him.

Just to depress everyone.  He wasn't alive when Shearer got that 50-league-goal achievement with us.

Not sure if it's more depressing that we're all so fucking old or that we've had so few players reach that milestone.

Was he even alive to see Shearer play for us?

Not really.  Shearer's testimonial was 10 days after Miley was born but Shearer was injured so couldn't do more than kick off at the beginning of the game.  So no, he's not old enough to have seen Shearer kick a ball competitively for us.

He's been neat, tidy and composed since he was first  thrown into big games last season and never been fazed by any team or opponent. Remarkable at 17/18 at that level.

While we're starting to see a bit more of what he's capable of in final balls and scoring, with a lot more to come, what I really noticed today was his scrapping in the  midfield congestion. He was getting involved in it, winning most of them and also winning a lot of important headers in tight situations.

Maybe first signs of really coming of age.

That had been my main concern, he didn't seem to try to win a 50/50 by strength but by nicking it, only winning it with his foot and not using his body if that makes sense. As you say, maybe a sign of coming of age as he has the technicals.

I thought he was much more competitive  aerially than we have seen from him previously.

So he should be to be honest, my mate met him recently when his kid was playing against his younger brother and he said he is a bit of a monster physically when you see him close up.
