Dubs is the better keeper. Pretty simple really.

Absolutely but managers and analysts plan for all occasions, have basic back up plans if players are injured out of nowhere or suspended. Everyone knew Dubs was cup tied, why keep him on the bench if the worst happened and pope got injured or sent off. Now we have a cold keeper that hasnt played a competitive match for almost a year, Feb 28th last year. This 75 minutes of match fitness could make a world of difference to next week.

Maybe the fact it was playing Liverpool was also a factor?

A half of absolute nightmares. Trippier shocking for their goals, Pope losing his mind. Two of our most consistent players completely shitting the bed, unreal.

That's why ultimately I just had to laugh at the ridiculousness of it all. They've both been so brilliant since they joined it's difficult to be upset with them. Just a horrid set of events all happening at once in the same game, after a heck of a good run of games.

Really crazy that we ended up singing Karius for the rest of the season despite Dubravka coming back and it's going to end up being a massive storyline next week now. Could be a heck of fairy-tale if it ends well. Here's hoping.

Can we launch an appeal to open up Pope to play for the final? But lose and have him miss 2 league games?

If I thought we had any hope of winning it on appeal, I'd say risk it. But with the rules how they are it was a nailed-on red. No point, we'd never get it overturned. Agree with Redknapp where he says it's a shit rule though.

You can point fingers at the defence but both of those goals are really top level by Liverpool.

It’s that sort of decisive ball or movement that we need to be much better at if we’re going to sustain our progress into being a top team.

Burn was kinda collapsed last match. Today it’s Pope. Trippiers form has been poor since World Cup and is getting worse and worse. Even Joelinton covers less area on the pitch. They all pointing to the fact that they have played too many minutes and close to burn out.

Is that surprising? No.

Is Howe responsible for this? Look at the  squad, look at the table. No.

So instead of finding someone to blame, give them more tolerance, trust and support. That’s what a proper fans should do.

One who is fully fit half the time and another brand new to the league? Team’s with a realistic (and probably rare chance) of getting CL football don’t do that.

Rare? Now maybe yes, in five years though? Team has so much marketing potential and means better players.

Aye, made me laugh with that ridiculous comment. The best pass in premier league history [emoji38]. What a knacker.

Did he seriously say that?  The international coverage is thankfully lacking in Carragher’s horseshite.  It was a fucking floated pass which left Nunez with a lot to do

Absolute shit set piece leading up to Pope getting sent off. We need to look at these as just putting the ball into the keepers hands immediately puts us under pressure.

Our set pieces are abject, especially given the height we have. Doing everything possible for a Maddison type is a must.

While no one is going to predict the Pope red. Seems surprisingly short sighted for how detail Howe is to not think of this type of scenario. Why wouldn't he have put Karius on the bench today. Just incase. How many competitive matches has Karius had in the last year of longer?

And if Karius got injured coming on we would have Gillespie ?

That's fair enough. I don't rate him, no, and I'm exaggerating a bit out of frustration. He shouldn't be anywhere near our starting XI.

As a club, we took a risk that we could survive without reinforcing our midfield in the transfer window and we got burned. Not Anderson's fault that happened, not his fault he's playing, but he's not of a standard required for what we want to do.

Fair enough, there’s too much on him at the moment. He needed a loan to the Championship but has found himself involved due to squad depth.

As much as I love Trippier and as much as he gives us so much going forward, it's so disappointing to see him constantly stood three yards behind the defensive line like a shit Sunday morning player. He's had a really poor couple of weeks.

Yeah, you're right, it has been increasingly noticeable of late. He's really struggling against quicker players with any sort of decent movement around him.

He has done an insane job, there is no denying that. Howe has turned some dreadful players in to actually capable PL players and some amazing games, way beyond what I would even imagine. But that high line against a super pacey side when we have a somewhat slow defensive line in terms of speed got us done. And that's where I start to question why go with a 3 man midfield when its shattered, changing formation might not be the best bet and its all speculation of course, but was it for the best to continue with it and chucking Anderson in there? How come we played with such a high line when it is sorta begging to be punished much like Everton. Yeah, Nunez hasn't scored like a madman, but both him and Salah together has created an insane amount of chances, it was just about time the passes behind actually clicked.

Some things are just written in stone, you don’t pull on superman’s cape, you don’t steal the wind, you don’t pull the mask off the Lone Ranger and we don’t beat Liverpool.

Have you heard about this thing where you loan players rather than buy them and improve both the first team and the bench?

You think there’s a queue of loan signings waiting like taxis in a rank as soon as you need one?

Like you just ring them up and be like ‘yep, you’ll do. See you in half an hour’

It takes a bit of work and we didn’t have the time
