Gordon has a terrible habit in the build up (regardless of which flank he's on) where when the balls played in to feet to him he often cuts back and runs with the ball directly in the direction of where the pass just came. It's like a tick and kills the momentum of the move

1-0 down and would not be surprised at all to see us turn this around mind. We get even close to our usual levels and we could blow these away.

Would like to get Anderson for Gordon though.

Gordon been an unfortunate combination of greedy and shit that half.

Not the only culprit, but a lot of shots from improbable angles rather than trying to supply balls to Isak in the middle.

Well defended apart from the very beginning and the end. Need to work their keeper more.

They have afforded Bruno so much space (besides when he got robbed for the goal). We looked dangerous early on with Isak and Gordon clicking nicely, Gordon needs some time in the team to adapt mentally.. he’s lacking composure and looks to keen to impress. Tried to beat his man 1 or 2 times more than necessary on left before he and Murphy switched.

There’s a good chance we win this in the  second, they will tire and get punished for not being tight enough on Bruno.

Once again - no Longstaff in the middle and we look disjointed as fuck.

Still got every faith we turn this around, can see Wilson and Isak getting time on the pitch together again. Be interesting to see what Eddie does.

Just like vs Villa, there is a significant drop off in intensity without Longstaff in the middle.

Soton will sit on this now - they’ve been decent first half.  Bruno likes doing that ‘running the ball with a man on the shoulder’ thing, but it’s suicidal when you’re running towards your own goal.  Need to be a bit quicker with the ball in the final third. I still think there’ll be a rocket up the bum from Howe here - he won’t wait long to make changes, either.

That's been coming. In short, we're not playing properly, dawdling too much, getting in each other's way, not knowing where to run and look positionally wrong. Most notably Bruno, who's been poor.

Gordon's been involved a lot and should have scored, but we've lost too much down that side with the much more formidable Joes not being there. I'd put us back in our familiar formation with someone directly replacing Longstaff, leaving everyone else in their known positions.

Despite all of that, we should still have scored twice, so hopefully we can sort it out and play how we know we can, they really haven't done anything special.

We are not doing what we usually do, we are trying to overplay it. Simple passes at the end there where our players were free and they were keeping a hold of the ball and passing to a player who had everyone around them. Play the ball. Their WB’s are so exposed.

Gordon did the running well but their RB and RCB started to standing still in the box and Gordon was running into him instead of playing the ball across the penalty box.

We well and truly shot ourselves in the foot with the goal, but if we get an equaliser the. These will well and truly shit themselves, we saw that in the Arsenal game.

They look vulnerable at the back, but we need to just keep it more simple rather than trying to world beaters.
