His first touch has been really poor at times, I agree on that and have raised it before. He’s also shown to have a very good touch at times as well.

Im putting it down to his adjustment to a new league and taking a confidence hit due to everything being new and having to totally re-establish himself. I didn’t watch him at all for Milan but there’s no way we’d have signed someone who wasn’t technically good enough. Think Bruno adjusted remarkably quickly, very unusual and that’s maybe due to his incredible confidence. Whereas Tonali is a lot more reserved. It might not be until the end of the season that we see the very best of Tonali and then he returns from summer he’ll light it up

Yep. No doubt his first touch has been hit and miss, but that might just be surprise at how quickly he is surrounded in the PL as compared to the Italian league where I don't think they press high as a rule. I'd not be making any judgements one way or the other this early in his Newcastle career. If he's still making the same mistakes by Christmas then there might be reason for concern.

From what I’ve seen so far I think some of his strengths are instinctual first time passes, carrying the ball and surging/finding the spaces between fullback and defender. He’s also very strong on the ball. His passing when he has time to take a touch is not amazing, and his confidence is clearly not there to take risks. I think he will be class for us but will take a season. Remember Milan basically thought he was shite in his first season there.

I was intrigued by the discussion here, and I admit that Tonali is a hard player to analyze right now for all the reasons that have already been discussed at length. I wanted to try to see if there was a data-based comparison to be had, so I used the player comparison tool on FBref and compared Rodri, Bruno G, and Sandro - for Rodri and Bruno, I included their age 23 season and the most recent one, for Tonali I included last year and what's happening so far this year.

You can add and change players if you want. There's too much data to display here but this is the link to see it all:

Long and short of it is, data is mostly encouraging, I'd say. Interesting to try to draw apples to apples comparisons.

Corona, who recently spent time in prison for amongst other things illegally obtaining photographs and trying to blackmail clubs and players with them, has also threatened to name “all the homosexual players in football.”

Sounds like an upstanding and respectable fella who should absolutely be listened to...

Can't help but feel he's just picked the two Italians who've moved to the PL too.
