I honestly think the way he was treated by the club, his teammates and the fans during his ban, actually overwhelmed him. Top class this lad I've not seen it yet. But my mate messaged me saying he had some really nice words for the fans in his pre-game interview. So I think you're right there.
Weezertron Posted Wednesday at 14:23 Share Posted Wednesday at 14:23 Of all our players, he is the one I would like to see in a Zidane-esque movie where the camera follows him for a full game. I'd love it.

Gazzaschicken Posted Wednesday at 21:25 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:25 (edited) His one touch pass play is just amazing and is the difference to where we are now to where we have been by making our play quicker. He did it loads last night. Edited Wednesday at 21:25 by Gazzaschicken

looneytoon Posted yesterday at 06:01 Share Posted yesterday at 06:01 Kudos to those who were calling for Sandro to be moved more centrally / into a holding position and for Bruno to be pushed further forward. Didn't really see it myself to begin with, I must admit, but it has turned out to be an absolute masterstroke
McCormick Posted yesterday at 06:27 Share Posted yesterday at 06:27 Yep, I didn’t think he had the press-resistance for the role but regardless if he does or not he moves the ball so quickly and efficiently it doesn’t really matter. His athleticism on transition makes him a slightly better fit than Bruno there as well.
STM
He's not as press resistant as Bruno but sadly for the opposition, you need to get near him to actually press him.
AyeDubbleYoo
Press resistance isn’t just holding off challenges. Moving the ball so quickly that you can’t be closed down is also press resistance.

He'll just pop it off to another player, they'll retreat and we'll pass it back to him. He'll turn and make some space and the opposition all just stand there, waiting. Happens so much. Gives us control of the tempo, something we've lost since Trippier lost it. I think teams target Bruno, 'cos as good as he is, he'll give you the ball a few times a game from overplaying, and you're straight in at our incredibly slow CB's. Tonali nullifies this as he's harder to press and doesn't push up or break lines like Bruno does. I agree with the first paragraph but the second paragraph is a bit odd. Bruno is one of the most press-resistant players in the league. Tonali gives the ball away more than him.

I think Bruno is very press resistant, but I see him semi-regularly (once or twice a game) get caught with the ball immediately in front of our CB's. He's generally trying to turn his marker or buy a free kick under pressure. Sometimes this doesn't work. No player is perfect, but it's a higher risk strategy than having Tonali there, who moves the ball quickly and accurately away from opposition pressure (making him press resistant in a different way). I think our play has benefited from this.

80
That video has given me a flashback to his earlier days here when he seemed to chicken out of blocking shots in a couple of games. He's made that a VERY distant memory now, shies away from nothing.
PRL
I remember Milanista talking about how the Rice fee should have been a benchmark for his fee. While I understand the obvious differences re home grown quotas and being proven in the league, looking at it now it doesn’t seem quite so outlandish
