Before it became abundantly clear that our ceiling was being nefariously set by our competition, I was generally accepting of the fact that we would lose players to bigger and better teams. I was convinced Bruno would be away after 23/24 and made peace with that at the time. That's not 'modern football, tut' that's been football forever, even if it's sad when it happens.

What changes the perspective, is the conditions around any departure. And for as long as the rulebook is facilitating a select few clubs to disproportionately load their squad - at the expense of everyone else - it's going to stick in the craw.

The other thing is, it's Man Utd. Like I said in the Bruno thread, it's not like they really are that much bigger and better than us these days. Our supposed car crash of a season doesn't even compare to their shit-tip of a 24/25  It's galling that they would be seen as such a step up for the likes of Sandro.

As for Tonali himself, I think he's an outstanding player who has generally been really disappointing this season, and the reality is I think we've got an academy lad who could fill his shoes without us losing a huge amount. So the idea of us trading him for big money doesn't feel as agonising, or that it automatically makes us significantly weaker despite the fee, as per Isak.

But it would still make me hate the world.

If the character references are good it’s a great deal to be had imo, shouldn’t be to hard to find out either given the fact he’s travelled with Bruno and Joe with the national side.

Is character really that much of a big deal? We need ppl who couldn't give a fuck and empty some ppl.   Silly but good fouls I mean.  It's all good having nice players but sometimes you need to be nasty

Tonali was never going to be here long term, he owes us for how we stood by him when he fucked up and by that I mean he stays and performs or goes for a huge profit, you are correct though, we have a potential Gerrard at the club that we need to nurture, Howe does that.

Tonali and Anderson being at the Manchester cartel clubs would be shite and sum up exactly the crap we're up against in different ways. Anderson would be completely wasted at Man City as well.

This is like when I told my nanna on a Friday morning that I had really bad diarrhoea and there was no way I could go to school and then I went to Wentworth Leisure Centre roller disco on the Saturday evening to skate round for 3 hours to 90’s rave bangers and ended up necking on with some scrotter from West Wylam behind Safeway

Paul Hawksbee the Talksport presenter and massive Spurs fan, said it was a pleasure to watch Anderson destroy his team last Sunday

Naive as it may be - I choose not to believe in all this latest hype.

"Any and every Newcastle player that has ever achieved owt that remains at the club to any big 6 or European super club." The media lap this shit up and create it to feather their own nests.

Football is absolutely pointless if it's to go into every single transfer window expecting to lose all your best players.

Players will inevitably have their feelers out and all that but just all the conspiracy theories and that is just doom mongering and "big" clubs perpetuate this to keep the little clubs in the status quo. The worst thing is the governing bodies perpetuate it.

We all knew Tonali was probably gonna head off in the summer. Only annoying thing is his performances have been below par for a while now which will effect his value. He was 100m easily earlier in the season.

Well it looks like the media have decided it's going to happen, so that's it then, they'll keep pushing and pushing and trying to unsettle the player until it happens, most likely to one of the septic six media darlings that are obviously the most important teams in the Premiership. Cunts.

Sounds like a Tonali problem, not ours. Best get his arse on the pitch and playing well if he wants his move.

Mind, we had a fin few months of 5/10 Isak and still got a good price for him.

Watching Italy, the first match I've watched throughout the whole season.

Tonali has been sloppy all match, constantly giving the ball away.

But a goal and an assist...
