Made a big error but then 3 minutes later earned a foul that led to his absolutely flawless free kick, headed in for the equaliser. He is something else.

Italian commentators were going on about the transfer to Newcastle right before he kicked it as well...

We're getting one of the best midfielders in the world.

I still can't reconcile in my mind where we now are sometimes most of the time.

So happy we haven’t gone down the dedicated defensive midfielder route. This guy gets all over the place which is so much better. It’s going to be some viewing watching him and Bruno alternating up and down that pitch.

Have to say Kone, Thuram and Caqueret are fucking ace. What a midfield 3. Thuram could be an absolute force in world football.

France is fast as fuck up front, they look fantastic going forward. Wouldn't have minded if any of them ended up here.

Have France ever had a poor generation of players? Even the one's that hadn't achieved the heights, had some crazy talent, even our own super talented Ben Arfa was nothing but a fringe player. I remember they didn't qualify for USA 1994, but even then, they had Ginola, Cantona, etc

So if the contract length etc is correct (6 years) how is that feasible since uefa changed the limit to 5 years starting this summer so everyone doesn't do a Chelsea FFP maneuver

Actual contracts can be as long as anyone wants. The 5 year limit is only for FFP calculations. You can't amortize the fee over 6, 7, 8 years.

You can sign them on as long a contract as you like, the amortisation of the player is worked out on a maximum of 5 year contract length for FFP though

I think the contract can be longer but the amortisation period can only be 5yr max.
