NUFC Transfer Rumours

With Rashford he’s going to have to get used to a massive salary cut and not being the club man. Both of those have held him back as a footballer but it wouldn’t be a shock if his first move was a disaster, then after an expectations reset he does well somewhere else

Or he can sit tight, run down his contract and go to Saudi and get mega money. He's good either way.

You’re probably right, but I was hoping he was thinking I’m going backwards as a player, how do I sort that out and get playing vs how do I get even more money when my insane Man Utd deal doesn’t get renewed at the same level

Yeah I hear you, I think things have fundamentally shifted for players 20_30 years ago you needed to be successful as a player to aquire wealth. Now you don't and you can make more money playing now than you can post career

Sitting tight for another three and half years seems a bit extreme mind.

not when you get paid close to £70m for doing it!  I'm not sure I'd be rushing to take a massive pay cut if i was him

Yes, but even if it currently looks like he’s not really arsed about playing football, I’m sure he probably is.

He’d basically be ending his career if he decided to just sit tight and he won’t want that.

He wouldn't be the first and won't be the last. Realisticly what is he going to achieve in his career on a sporting level? Might as well make enough for many generations of Rashfords.

Win some trophies? Play for England again? Go to another World Cup?

There’s loads really. People are talking like he’s some pub player now. He’d be mental to jack it in.

Obviously we don’t know the state of his finances away from football, but unless he’s been particularly reckless, he’ll already have secured the futures of the next couple of generations at the very least.

People go way overboard on the Rashford bashing. Top player, and would have him here if his wages was 50% less.

50%? That woul make him our top earner instantly. Absolutely no way even at that for what he offers.

Rashfords other option is a Sancho or Lukaku style loan deal, where he gets the money and a second chance on the pitch. Would mean Germany, Spain or Italy, doubt they’d do it for a PL club

Id support that as Man Utd would still get rinsed for at least 200k pw.

He wouldn't be jacking football in he'd be coasting. He's been an elite athletic for a long time it must be incredibly draining and I'm surprised more instances of burnout don't occur.

He's not winning the Premier league or the champions league and he isn't winning anything internationally. I think for a lot of players football is just a job tbh.

Oh and he's a massive spender

For elite level players, which has definitely been, and probably still is, even if he’s not shown it for a prolonged period now, football is far more than a job. It’s an all consuming, way of life.

Rashford allowing it not to be that all consuming way of life in recent times, is probably why he’s dropped off. He gets a move, and gets back to that and you can see him picking up again.

Nah. Think he is very talented. But clearly has issues away from football and in how he applies himself.

Sounds like a terrible trainer, out on the smash a fair bit and have you seen him off the ball? Makes ASM look like Kante with his work rate.

Can’t be arsed to put effort in for his boyhood club. Why would it be different here or somewhere else?

Shame he’s gone down this route. I used to really like him as a player and seemed a great person off the pitch.
