Im fine with it. Given the moves made this January by other clubs I don't see anyone I'm chomping at the bit to sign on inflated wages and for high fees. soyt
Not fine with it at all. Where we are at the table now, it just screams for 1-2 new players in this window. We are few injuries away from disaster and if we don't get european football this season the ramifications could be big. With the outgoings, i just hope we could push a bit and not ride our luck, but it seems that nothing is going to happen. Just seems such an opportunity missed, but this is the brave new PSR world i guess. And well, we are only 2 matches away from europe.. Dokko
I wonder if the club thought the psr model would be bust by now, and we'd be able to invest? Either that or we banked on Bruno leaving in the summer for £100m. Wonder if the still think the model is on its last legs and just doing it's best to keep it's main players and at any cost. If not, we're selling in the summer. Most likely isak.

If we don't get CL we will likely have to compromise on the price a little. Otherwise we may get to keep him longer, but risk losing him for nothing when his contract is done. Abacus
Quite happy with the outgoings at the prices being quoted - all fringe players with little chance of regular football, and not exactly huge amounts of excitement when they do play. We've still got a realistic chance of Europe and I won't jinx the cups. If we do get Europe, though, it's the summer that's going to need to be big, so clearing the decks and making room now is sensible. We'd need some serious depth in the squad to compete with those extra games, so summer is probably the time to spend to avoid what happened last year in the CL. I realise it's chicken and egg re potentially missing out on Europe and the implications that would have. But as a calculated gamble (which it would be either way), that route makes more sense to me. Down to Eddie and the players now.

Newcastle Fan
No signings is fine, there aren't many games left anyway and with the likes of Wilson and Barnes returning soon we should be ok for numbers baring an injury crisis, but i really hope this means they are preparing for a big summer. That plus the disappointing CL revenue has meant we are now in limbo for multiple transfer windows Edited 3 hours ago by geordie_b

Then when it showed its teeth I think that’s when reality set in but we’d already spent big first 3 windows and tried to rebalance without losing any purples. We’ll be back on track with plan b this summer.

The problem is though that with PSR the ramifications of getting into Europe are not huge. Conference League generates only low millions, Europe League a bit better but really to feel a positive financial impact you need Champions League. So the question becomes do you gamble for the Champions League and accept you're in a mess if you miss, or be more conservative and see how the season plays out. It seems we've decided the latter, and after the mess we got ourselves in last Summer, I am OK with that.

Yeah I just checked and the CL total money is roughly around €2.2B, Europa around €500M and Conference €250M It's insane how much the CL helps Financially, no wonder Villa are making all these signings this window
