Brilliant book. Although I don't think we have a Rodgers/Benteke situation (yet?), definitely agree that recruitment can't be driven by one person and one style.

If I’m honest I’m slightly pessimistic based on the limited info we have. If we haven’t made a signing by the end of June I’ll move to worried status. I’m not sure who is running things in terms of bringing in players at the club right now given all the changes at executive level, and we’re mainly getting linked to players that seem unattainable, or only attainable if we decide to do half the business we need to do.
 

My hope is that we’re doing things on the quiet like we have in the past.

Can’t see anyone else in world football looking to buy Pedro at the quoted price. So I’m sure we will get him.

I understand the scepticism given last summer, but it's way, way too early to be worrying about transfers.

 

The club know what needs to be done, given the demands of Europe and I'm confident they'll do it. 

 

The window so far has been release clauses and the clubs unaffected by PSR flexing their muscles.

Fair point. Chelsea already shot their load on Delap and they would have been the main threat.

Means nothing for Chelsea. They will sell their fans back to themselves to get more money.

The more I think about it, the two Delap and Mbuemo really were perfect for us, at the price points mentioned. Mbuemo possibly too expensive wages wise but Delap at 30m was an amazing deal. 
 

any other relegated release clauses?

He will cost more than Delap but I actually think J Pedro is the better fit for us - covers 4 positions - Put price to one side, I would have J Pedro above Delap

Aye I'd take Joao Pedro over Delap every day like. Cunha was the one for me, but João Pedro has a lot of the same qualities and is probably stronger. He scored 20 from 40 in all comps last season (not just gone), he has another level to go up and would be more than capable of filling in for Isak.

There's this guy Abdul Fatawu at Leicester, he might be available for ~30m if they need to sell.. left footed RW.. missed all last season injured but I've seen him a couple of times in the Championship, he'd be an asset for us right away and he's still very young.

 

Although the top RW target SHOULD BE Roony Bardghji, contract expiring in Dec, so basically free. Also missed last season with knee injury but he's an unreal talent and he has already proven it at CL level. Maybe a little too short, therefore unathletic enough for Eddie's liking.. but there are bargains on the market - I still can't believe that we're targeting exclusively PL players.
