Stand firm and what? Play Osula for weeks until Isak sorts his head out? Then hope the crowd don’t turn on him every time he touches the ball?

No, buy Wissa or Strand-Larsen, play them for a few weeks while Isak gets his head right.

Play the majority of the season with Isak and a very good back up. Scout the continent this year for a true difference maker up front. Sell Isak in June for 100-120 mil

I do believe this is the club's position, and it's the best one for our season IMO.

I would have agreed with all the above until today. But if SP's post is to be believed, I think the Isak shit has just gone too far. We're clearly a close-knit group that absolutely thrives on togetherness and team spirit. The fact Isak has seemingly distanced himself from any opportunity to reintegrate only makes it an ever more distant prospect that he'll be coming back into the fold

Some mental gymnastics going on here a little I think. I get it as it's the only way to cope with a shit situation. But like it or not Isak was a difference maker and was the key to us over achieving and mixing it with the top 5. Unfortunately Wissa and/or Strand-Larsen doesn't do that.

Sure they will help us, but Isak was something different, he was the striker all the teams ahead of us want in their team.

Unfortunately he turned out to be a collosal dick who decided to drop us in the shit rather than giving us time to and secrecy to get our business done in preparation for his eventual move.

He was the one that all the teams ahead of us wanted but they never went for him when we did because he was scoring 6 goals in Spain.

Sick of this narrative that the club is lucky to have Isak and that he's irreplaceable. He was lucky we bought him and put him in position to perform at the level he did.

I wish people would stop making out every striker we go for won't be good enough to replace Isak when every player we sign over achieves and does far better than anyone expects.

When we bought Isak we got clowned for overspending for a striker that wasn't a goal scorer in Spain and yet here we are with people crying that we'll be doomed without him!

Yep, its the best solution for the club this season, the best solution for the club financially, and the best solution for the clubs image long term.

We'd have to wait and see... but history tells us that regardless of how emotional the current situation is, elite players will eventually play, fans and teammates get over it, and the club will still get a good fee in a years time.

In regards the Wilson replacement, I feel perhaps the club have been too ambitious and could have landed someone alot sooner if they had considered the criteria more. Wilson contributed 0 league goals last season. He could barely move when he did play.

I feel like we just need someone who knows the position and can give the team better structure. Abit like Chris Wood did during his time. Didn't get the goals but allowed the team to function better. Someone with more experience than Osula. Earlier in the summer Wissa for around £30m seemed perfect. But that ship seems to have sailed now they want double that.

We aren't going to be able to replace Isak with anyone currently available. But it shouldn't mean we blow any future sale money on players we won't ever get that money back from and that won't take us forward as a club.

So I agree with others that we have to take a chance on some potential from Europe and don't blow our PSR and just get some one who can play the position and then hopefully maybe Isak does play again this year or we have better options to spend on in January or next summer.

It's shit and no solution is particularly positive I realise that.

I'm saying that Liverpool / Arsenal were coveting him last year. I'm not downplaying Howe and the clubs ability to grow players and make them more than their worth.

However in my opinion, players like Isak are a rare breed and you can tell the difference between those types and the regular players.

Ekitike had that potential in him like Isak did when we signed him. But I don't see it in the likes of Strand-Larsen.

Howe would no doubt make him functional and useful for the team. He may even save our season if he joins. But he has a ceiling I feel. And we would be looking for an upgrade fairly quickly.

Is our list now wissa or larsen or no one then do people recon?

Openda and ramos mentioned fleetingly and now all noise is these 2 assume Jackson is a last resort late on should he not already have gone?

Feels like all or nothing right now had hoped a left field option would just slip in out of the blue but looks unlikely.

Exactly. We’re about to go into the Champions League. It would be a complete disaster to mess that up, and be playing catch up in the league. We can’t just throw away a season.

I think everyone remembers most of Isak’s best performances for us. Butt he last 10 or so games of last season he was no great shakes iirc.

I would expect a better contribution from JSL or similar, especially if being pressed by another striker for the shirt.

There must be some legal actions that can be taken against Isak other than just getting the reminder of the initial fee back, his «loyalty»-bonus and wages. I’m not a lawyer, but I imagine we hold much stronger «legal» cards than just the above.

I convinced myself he was playing injured ever since he missed that Liverpool away league game.

Yeah perhaps I've given him too much credit.

If he leaves I will be remembering that he is brittle as fuck and was very rarely seemingly 100% fit. It's just when he is I've not seen many better in a black and white shirt.

Personally, I am slowly trying to come to terms with us not having a second striker other than Osula already  genuinely. Make of that what you Will. #PunIntended

I liked the roar Osula got when he came on. Everyone is wishing him to do well.

Using the Isak money on Wissa and Larsen is terrible business. Can't believe that's the option we have at this stage

Think what you said is cack. Both are decent, Larsen would be very good for us the way we play, and Wissa as a replacement for Wilson is good as it gets as a back up.

We absolutely need another midfielder. Even without the injuries, 4 starting calibre MFs is not enough.

We've got 6. In an ideal world we'll get another and allow Miley to go and get 30 games on loan. But it's daft to say him and Willock aren't good enough to start in the league

Last year in the league

Wissa: 19 goals, 4 assists

Strand Larsen: 14 goals, 4 assists
