Here we go .........

Hard to know the validity of all this, but man ... the heat is being turned upon Eddie and everything Newcastle right now. I do not envy their position.

According to a reputable insider from the Daily Briefing, German forward Nick Woltemade is almost certain to leave St James' Park this summer.

The 24-year-old striker's debut season in England proved extremely challenging. According to sources close to his agent circle, serious differences of opinion regarding his tactical role have arisen between the player and head coach Eddie Howe. Those around the player are dissatisfied with the coaching staff's handling of the German's career. Howe reportedly gave Voltemada conflicting signals: initially, the coach stated that he saw him as a classic No. 9, but then regularly pushed the tall player deeper. The lack of a fixed game plan and a clear understanding of the coach's expectations prompted the German to consider a change of team.

Currently, three European clubs are showing interest in Voltemada: Borussia Dortmund, Atlético Madrid, and Birmingham City's Aston Villa. While there have been no official contacts between the clubs, Newcastle bosses are already open to offers. The Magpies want to formalize a full sale and receive around €65 million for the striker. However, potential buyers are currently leaning more toward a one-year loan with an option to buy.

Some experts are urging caution against overdramatizing the situation, noting that Voltemade's decline is a completely normal process of adapting to a more intense league and a foreign country. However, most analysts agree that Newcastle and the talented German, who was even being pursued by Bayern Munich before his move to the Premier League, will finally part ways this offseason.

Get off the interweb Ben.

I think we are all just a bit raw today, we've all had a drink so I think we just need to take a breath

Something is wrong here.

We don't know what kind of club we are, nor do we know what kind of club we want to be. We are trying to sign targets as if we were a consistent CL team able to pay at the highest levels, but we obviously cannot compete on that front. We are not Manchester City. Had all this happened 20 years ago, we would be them now. But it didn't.

Conversely, we are not willing to take a more Brighton-type approach to try to develop players that are a bit more raw, seemingly because we consider ourselves bigger than that, it would appear.

So now we're right there in the middle. We lack the vision, the expertise, the humility to try a different approach. And we lack the financial power to succeed weith our current approach. We are desined for another disastrous summer without an immediate change of approach.

I’ve been careful to not get carried away since the takeover. After 42 years of following the club I have been girding myself for the inevitable fuck up that always comes

Just been talking to someone there about where we are right now with our recruitment pitch and it sounds like a nightmare like.

So we started the project with the pitch being basically 'come here, you're getting in on the ground floor, we're going to compete for the league and the CL in a few years'

Whereas now the pitch is apparently more along the lines of 'look at Gordon, look at Isak, come here and in a few years that could be you going to one of those clubs'

but the problem is, we're pitching that to players who those clubs already want now never mind in a few years, rather than the ones that say Brighton or Bournemouth are after.

That's that "limbo" area I mentioned last night. The players we're targeting can go to the Sky 6 for more money and success because they can pay more players the big bucks than we can.

We don't really want to be one of those stepping stone clubs either, because every time a player reaches top 4 quality, they'll just move on and we'll be forever stuck there.

So it looks like we're still not quite targeting the right guys then?! [emoji38]

If we were bringing Munoz in to start right away then that would have probably been more of a stronger pull for him, but we all know he's going to be starting off behind Barnes initially. This is also the sort of player Liverpool are looking at as a squad player too, and so this isn't really making much sense ultimately.

It looks like this is going to be similar for all the other main names we're seeing on our list, from who else is being linked with them.

Probably won't hurt going down the list a bit. Otherwise this might well happen with a few others again still.

Dunno about that. It's the reality of where we are. Until we get official big boy status we're going to be seen as a stepping stone whether we want it or not. May as well accept it if it leads to a better caliber of player coming in and improving us?
