NUFC Transfer Rumours

Optimistic Nut

Guirassy is still banging the goals in for Stuttgart, granted he's 28 and will probably be looking for a big contract but with his release clause at 17.5m euros he on paper represents a good value signing.

Sesko and Guirassy in with Wilson out would sort out our strike options for another CL or even title push, and deep cup run - all for 60m or so - minus the 10m for Wilson.

NO BRAINER.

Honestly, we're not too far from competing in my opinion.

Pope + new GK (Gillespie)

Trippier, Tino (Krafth)

Schar, (Tosin) (Lascelles)

Botman, Burn

(Kelly), Hall

Bruno, New DM (Miley)

Tonali, Willock

Joelinton, Anderson

New Elite RW, Minteh

Isak, (Sesko, Guirassy)

Gordon, Barnes

What a strong 25-man squad.

Out: Targett, Dubravka, Karius, Longstaff, Wilson, Lewis, Ritchie, Hendrick, Hayden, Dummett

Perhaps 1 elite RW only (in addition to Sesko and Guirassy) with Tosin and Kelly doing the job this year defensively.
Then GK and DM can be either loans or fairly cheap which can be upgraded next year.

Jobs a good un

0% chance we'll have three strikers of the calibre of Isak, Sesko & Guirassy next season. I'm not sure there is another team in the league with three strikers at that level.

Wilson out and Guirassy in would be a slightly risky, but potentially smart move.

Won't be getting Sesko and Guirassy surely. Once you sign one, the other will be looking at 2 top class strikers being at the club and think better if it.

Also, there's no way Howe will want to lose Longstaff. Unless we get a big bid from someone (which won't happen) then he'll be here next season.

I agree about Adarabioyo and Kelly though, both of those on a free will do for me and that's CB and LB cover sorted. We still need a "proper" LB I believe though.

How do signing fees work with PSR? I know if we signed Kelly for £10m, it'd be spread over the length of his contract but would that be the same as offering him a £10m signing fee?

Good question. I assume it is also amortised. I think if a company bought a car, all upfront costs are amortised over the payment terms.

Would Sesko come unless more or less guaranteed game time? He’s at the age where he should play most games to develop properly.

Have to bring this up everytime I see it. In the next couple seasons (at least) if we want to have a full squad for UEFA competitions Longstaff isn't going anywhere. We weren't able to register the maximum amount of players for CL this season as we didn't hit the home grown quota. We're not about to start selling the HG assets in the squad. He will be a squad/bench player next season, but he isn't going anywhere.

If we make Europe he'd get a lot of game time, and even if we don't he still would if Wilson isn't as involved or leaves going forward.

He's still just 20 years old, and as I said before, isn't really ready to play week in week out at this level from what I've seen.

Isak isn't the sort of striker we want to be running into the ground at all, and so I think it would be a nice tandem, and he'd be very involved.

From a Bournemouth fan:

"Kelly is a very interesting player.

And by that I mean that his defending in certain situations is top class, but in other situations it is below par.

He really excels in an area that most other defenders hate, running back towards his own goal. If there is a ball played over the top and an opposition attacker chasing it then there aren’t many defenders in the league that I would pick over Kelly to handle it. He makes it look effortless at times.

However when he actually has to defend his own penalty area he isn’t great at all. His concentration levels aren’t the best and he regularly loses his man, he is particularly poor when defending crosses. Despite his size he doesn’t really seem to enjoy the physical battle with opposition forwards either, I don’t feel that he is particularly comfortable heading the ball which is obviously not ideal for a centre back. I’d go as far to say that out of all our centre backs if we were sitting deep and defending a lead then he’d be the last of the four I’d want on the pitch.

I think the appeal is that he excels in an area that very few do because his overall defending is pretty ordinary."

Can see why he'd appeal to a team such as ourselves who play a higher defensive line.

On the subject of MGW, those saying he will cost 60m...I don't see it.

Forest have been breaching PSR, they signed him for 40ish. They can want 60m but they will be under all kinds of pressure to sell him, especially if he makes it clear he wants the move.

I'd actually go as far to say that he's worth the 60m, if that's the high end price. Given what we've done with Gordon at 45m, I'm certain the value of MGW would reflect the cost.

I’d be supportive of that. I really wanted Gallagher and Palmer (no chance of either now) as well as Philips (but we’ll gloss over that one). A centre back and a striker (who can play wide forward) should be our priorities for the summer. But picking up MGW if at all possible, would be an amazing addition and improve us as a team.

MGW would be class. It's just that there's next to no chance we get him for a decent price. Their deal for him was worth £37m and his value has increased probably to at least £50m now I reckon.

Fully on board with Howe's philosophy of having really flexible players as well like. As far as I'm concerned, outside of the back 5, Bruno, Isak and Gordon left or right, our starting XI just depends on who we're playing and how best to exploit them.

Just getting it in now so it's on the record, but if our front 3 ends up being Barnes, Isak, Gordon then I propose now that it's referred to as The Notorious B.I.G

Keep the injury list down to a “normal” level and we’ll be challenging for top 4 :indi:

Sesko allegedly has a €45 million clause in his contract. There will be plenty of competition you'd imagine.

Yep, he's going to have his pick of starting for CL clubs, he would be fairly insane to come to be back up to Isak.

At this stage in his development, he's probably not going to be starting for a Champions League regular. He obviously won't go there, but somewhere like Brighton would be ideal for him.

All of these suggestions are great, in the 40-60m bracket. Chiesa could be added to this list too.

It depends what is classed as elite. For example Sesko as a second striker, elite or not? He is younger, and coming off a poor season.

A pacy CB is important. As is a starting LB.

A decent specialist DM even if they’re not a starter would be a good position to fill for certain games.

It's interesting that a defensive CM seemed such a priority in winter window after Tonali's ban, but with him hopefully returning along with Miley for next season, a CM is probably well down the list of priorities now. The club's gamble that we could see out the season with what we have might actually be proven right if we qualify for Europe.

He made 4 starts in the CL this year, if Spurs make the CL does he not start for them?

Have we been linked with Tosin or are people just automatically assuming we'll be interested due to the fact we're desperate for CHs and he'll be on a free?
