NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

I think last season was Wissa’s first through the middle and he really knows where the goal is. He’s miles ahead of Osula (who may be better out wide based on scant evidence to date) and given how things are going I would take Wissa in a heartbeat. We’d all love To Madeira but it ain’t gonna happen.

But when I think about it, its hard to criticize our overall transfer strategy that seems to have worked out pretty fucking great.

Im just "worried" that we will once again end up with a too small squad.

I guess filling up the squad can wait until later in the transfer window.

Squad will have numbers, just it's not the numbers you want when playing in UCL and rotating for league games.

Pope: Tino, Schar, Burn, Hall: Tonali, Bruno, Joelinton: Gordon, Isak, Elanga

Dubravka: Trippier, Lascelles, Botman, Targett: Miley, Willock, White: Barnes, Osula, Murphy

That 2nd XI right now :D It's doable if you are just bringing 2 of them max (disconting Botman as the 2 as he's a solid player if back to form) into the side, anything more and we're fucked. Get an injury situation like last time when we was in Europe, it's going to hurt us. Rather have some unproven raw players coming into side in that situation where they could break out, instead of Willock, Targett etc. where we know what the crack with them is.

The fact that we haven't signed anyone other than Elanga and the fact that Eddie wanted to bring people in early does imply atleast that our list of targets was rather small.

If we had a longer list of targets ready to go things would happen more quickly I would think.

Cant be that hard to identify more targets tho can it with all the data clubs have on players. We we are gona just have to be abit more risky in our approach. Loads of players that are not far off the attributes/stats we are looking but have potential.

Prefer Tsigalko tbh

I might be wrong but it feels like the number of transfers overall has been quite small. Admittedly I don’t follow it that closely.

Obviously the biggest movers so far have been the cartel clubs. Plus Brighton doing their thing. Lowest movers so far have been Villa, Fulham and Wolves. Don't think any of them have made any major signing yet.

It’s 5.5 working days since we signed Elanga

Given the lag between “fee agreed”

and a formal announcement of signing we’re probably about 8 days away from an announcement of a formal signing if we agree a fee and player terms today though

The Mitchell question from earlier and why he came in and left, he was an Eales choice and close to Eales before his stint at NUFC, i think they were a package. DA has strong likes to Brailsford and similar pattern there. I think we can fully expect the next man in to make a similar move but the same issues will always arise with Eddie having his own man in recruitment.

Hypothetically we get Wissa, a GK that's not Trafford, and a CB - would people be happy? I still think it leaves us short personally.

One more CM, unless you are willing to gamble on White

Depends on the gk and cb, surely?

Donnaruma and Guehi and I’m very happy  .

I think we really need 4 more. 3 is absolute bare minimum imo, if that one player less is us skipping a new GK. Personally I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we only get another 2 in unfortunately. My expectations are quite low now. And when the window opened I was already sceptical about us getting enough done.

If I had known Longstaff was going when the window opened I would have said that we must sign 5 players, and it’s massively vital that we do it going into this season so we don’t fall short. Massive summer window this and so far it’s only Elanga.

Hopefullly the momentum in this window changes for the better asap. Still time, but I’m not confident.

We have Willock and Miley as backup in a CL campaign [emoji38]. We are in big trouble without a CM.

It’s not a coincidence that all of the players they missed on outside of Ekitike, are Premier League players.

We can’t compete with the established big 6 in that aspect, we either need to spot the talents early before the big 6 do, or shop outside of the Premier League, which is a a bit tricky since Eddie Howe clearly favors PL proven players.

The last point is so frustrating because all of our best signings since the takeover have been from outside the premier league! Tonali, Bruno, Isak, Botman, even Trippier despite obvious experience already.
