We need PIF to do a lot of heavy lifting if they wish to compete with the cartel and I'm just not seeing that as realistic at this stage. If it was why have they been phoning it? And they've been phoning it In for a long time now. 4 years to find a bit of grass to build a training ground and they still haven't found a bit of grass? Yeah again I agree, we've not made any headway in training facilities and obviously new stadium plans. But again I put that down to boots on the ground leadership, its clear pif want to own us from a distance like with any of their other vessels but that's not possible without functioning leadership which we've painfully discovered. Yeah it's definitely an unknown as we did have leadership in place until recently and still nothing has been done. That being said, the training ground is just an example of things slipping. If we want to challenge them things cannot slip as the gap is huge. Multiple issues exist and if a new CEO is to be successful he's going to have to mobilise PIF and quickly, it will require levels of engagement from them which to be frank we haven't seen and I don't see any reason why this would change. AyeDubbleYoo
We haven’t announced or done the training ground or stadium, I wouldn’t say that necessarily means we haven’t made any progress on it.

Sibierski
Andy Howe probably frequents this place, so if we pick a name and run with it loads, he may make an enquiry and we’ll see that club leak it to one of the journos.

As @AyeDubbleYoo says, we may not have heard any progress but that doesnt necessarily mean we haven't made any, but I also agree that we need to be quicker with these things and maybe they've been stunted with Eales' condition. I stick by my opinion that the middle management is where the disconnect is and once that's sorted, progress will accelerate but I guess only time will tell. It's been a rough couple of months and it's easy to lose sight of how far we've come already and be dispirited by our current malaise, however I do believe lessons have been learnt the hard way. This summer has been painful and was completely avoidable, boardroom chaos has exacerbated that and I don't think it'll happen again. I get that it's hard to form any kind of positivity from this but the low will only make the high so much better when we come back stronger Edited August 8, 2025 by Mattoon

I get that it's hard to form any kind of positivity from this but the low will only make the high so much better when we come back stronger Yeah maybe maybe not. This kind of slow progress doesn't help us. Again we were looking for land 3 years ago. It's simply not the action of a club which is pushing as hard as possible. We've absolutely come far but the base was about as low as it could. 14 years of emotional abuse with the club's potential being pissed down the drain obviously takes it toll. The bigger issue is the gap which those 14 years created combined with rules which are obviously absurd. I don't think this summer happens again either but I also think we don't really have a good way to bridge the gap as things stands. I've been warning about this glass ceiling since Everton got those points docked I don't knock your positivity, I envy it intact and my perspective doesn't have much to do with this summer tbh, it's more of a big picture lens I try to take. OpenC
I'm starting to come around on all this. I don't know how much of the growing disquiet is a result of actually missing out on the high profile targets, and how much is a result of repeat embarrassments by being little bro'd on the national stage in a What Will The Mackems Think sort of way. I'm pleased we've gone for big targets and of course I'm gutted that they've fucked us off but our success so far has been mostly based on quality coaching of largely unknown quantities and has maybe been as much down to a fairly successful looking No Wankers policy as anything else (now looking in tatters if Isak stays, unless Howe's arm around the shoulder game is as strong as we hope). We've jumped the gun and overachieved in a lot of ways already. We're not attractive enough or in a financial position to attract the mercenaries so far (not necessarily a bad thing) but it seems to have been working out for us the last three or four years all the same. If that's not good enough for Isak's ambition then it is what it is I suppose, but our own ambition as a fanbase is starting to look similarly lofty based on not that much. Like a few people have been posting for the last couple of weeks, I hope we're still working on unearthing the next Brunos and Tonalis in the background rather than relying only on not being fucked off by established elite players, and I'm sure we will be. TBF neither Sandro or Bruno were unearthed talents we just took the plunge first and it worked out well. Both players were full internationals for Brazil and Italy when we signed them playing for 2 massive clubs in the champions League.
