Sorry, may sound crazy, but I'd still take this. The Ashley days were pushing me towards an existential crisis in terms of trying to figure out if I even liked/cared about the club I supported anymore.

Fair enough. Perhaps it's recency bias or perhaps it's just us experiencing a whole new type of pain.

We've suffered the pain of the club being a decaying husk, destroyed by one man's greed

Now we're suffering the pain of the bigger kids ganging up and bullying us for having the audacity of trying to compete with them and we have no one standing up for us.

For what its worth, he still lives with the lass and has two kids with her and her father wants her to marry him. Her dad was apparently instrumental in dropping the charges.

No doubt he's an absolute cretin and I never suggested him as a Newcastle player, I just put the question out there.

She stayed with him, Stockholm Syndrome at it's finest.

You're absolutely correct. I've since looked up all the evidence and there can be no doubt of not only his guilt, but also the guilt of the justice system.

Good on you for doing that mate, and for the posts above

I’m pretty sure Elanga will prove better than Big Vurn Anita, so probably not objectively the worst, but this summer is carrying depressingly vibes to that one (and the earlier summer of Lee Bowyer) in terms of the club utterly failing to push on and seize a golden opportunity to move up the hierarchy.  Probably more depressing now because everything else surrounding the window—trophy, CL, quality of manager and key squad players, wealth and alleged ambition of owners—seemed so positive as of June 1.

Anyways, is Big Vurn still alive? Bring him in on a free for midfield depth? 🙃

Call it morbid curiosity, but I'm genuinely intriguing to see who the Isak replacement is.

Seems Thiaw is the CB wr want and Wissa is the Wilson replacement.

It will be one of the names linked, we won’t go for a new name. Despite the criticism (most deserved) the media have been bang on with our targets this summer.

Mitchell slagged us for overpaying and the PSR debacle that cost Minteh and Anderson but was designed to cost us Bruno.

Now we're getting slagged for not paying enough and not convincing players that we're better prospect for them than other clubs that are more famous and have been more successful in recent times.

We go for ambitious, high-profile targets, fail, some say failure was coming a mile off, and then the same people kick off when lower profile targets (Wissa, McGinn etc.) get mentioned. They say we are "shopping like West Ham".

Some things you just can't win. Whatever it is, I do not find it "embarrassing", unless you want to buy into Talksport mickey taking.

Man U may have Sesko, but they're not in the CL. They'll have to improve a lot to get near us this season.

Shitting your pants in Morissons is embarrassing.

Your football club having zero strategy is the transfer market, not so much.

I shit my pants on the 632 from Blaydon to the haymarket in 1990 on account of some bad prawns. I still had a thoroughly lovely time watching the stones at SJP though.

It’ll be someone underwhelming. Why are we still trying to do cheap deals. I’ve no doubt we picked Thaiw because he’s a cheap option

No need Isak’s staying [emoji38]

He's staying for at least one more year. The quicker he wraps his head around it and gets back to training with the full squad, the better.

Even next summer, who will there be that could possibly replace him?

The Athletic had names we should target earlier. Think it was Jackson, Larsen, Samuel and Ramos.
