Newcastle is a city of many bridges. Nothing is absolute in football and life in general

Only 2 of which are in full working order and not actually dropping to bits....soon to be 1. Heres a hint the next one to have work on does carry cars

I don’t think expectations are that high now to be honest. What do you guys expect?

My expectations are around 7th or 8th at moment way transfer window has gone. May change over next few weeks but don't see us competing for top 6 with Isak situation and not having new players bedded in. Needed serious strengthening to push on and other teams have strengthened around us.

How do the other big clubs do it then? Im not being sarcastic but if we are limited to the first 11 being good and the rest being just ok then we aren't getting anywhere.

I think having 4 quality CMs for 3 positions seems perfectly workable to me. Im sure Villa have a selection of midfielders who they rotate, and its seemed to work for them.

Ive no issue going for a younger player who can improve FWIW but i really liked the idea of McGinn.

Either way, a youngster or an experience operator we need reinforcements in midfield. we run our first 3 into the ground each season. Bar Miley, the drop off to the remainder is unacceptable.

I can see the no risk approach to McGinn and wouldn't be against it at the right price however we kicking the can down the road. Rudoni and/or Hackney and we have Miley and we start building the next generation of our midfield. Future proof ourselves against a cartel raid for our star midfielders?

Ive already got Lewis Hall and Harrison Ashby pegged as CMs ahead of relying on Willock.

Once Thiaw and Wissa are done, we need to go full steam on a CM. Even if its a loan with an option, that would do.

agree with your point around those two being more useful than Willock

Not sure about Hall as CM, worry about his ability to play on the half turn, he got hammered in a tackle against Espanyol because his body position was that of a defender. We also spent nearly 18 months turning him into a very very good defender so he may have lost the midfield nuances in his game.

Yeah I think that’s the ticket, a young player with room to improve who won’t have to play every week.  Although that also sounds like Miley.

ederson will be one to watch you’d imagine

Surely the whole point of a ‘database nonce’ is to put on your radar players that you are not familiar with, rather than players from the club they used to work for, who you’ve likely scouted to some degree anyway?

It's just data collection and analysis at the end of the data.

Would Chelsea let Andrew Santos go? Perfect profile for where we are and more likely to play for us than their million CMs

It would take a big bid as he seems to be involved pre season. We wanted him when he was at Vasco so I’d imagine he’s still on the radar. Chelsea do need to make sales but not sure he’d be one they’d consider unfortunately.

Better and younger option than Ederson would be perfect.

They don't need any further sales sadly. Clubs have been lining the pockets right left and centre.

Our owners chief amongst them

Was reading something the other day that suggested due to UEFA rules and the fine they got, they do need to make player sales.

They sold a lot of rubbish for good money so they are now clear.

I’d imagine it’s both

From what I've heard the club does want to be much more data driven with our transfer targets and its something everyone was on board when Mitchell was here.

I'm assuming Mr centre of the wheel didn't do enough in this area?

False news, the UEFA fine is actually deductible from PSR.

German press linking us with Nmecha

Given how we've moved this summer, it probably has legs.

Probably agent talk to draw out Manure again, who have been linked with him.
