We look so toothless. Wolt is a number ten so need a actual striker who can finish before Monday plus some damn creativity

Looks like we’re two players short at least

He's not a number 10. He has attributes of one, but he isn't.

Fratessi was only because of the injury scare with Tonali/Joelinton.

If true, that's incredibly shirt sighted, what happens if those two get a serious injury right after the window shuts? You can never have too many good players.

There will be more injury scares. Watch this space.

I don’t get this line of thinking, we were prepared to bid if one of them was out for any significant amount of time which suggests we don’t have the cover but won’t bid now because there isn’t a long term injury.

Honestly think we'll fine from a creativity PoV, but we need that second forward in.

I suspect the midfield concerns are more due to the fact they've played without a recognised striker for the first two games and a kid played in the 3rd one.

That would make any midfield look like it needs more, I'm sure it will be fine.

Does Waltemade play with his back to goal and in theory hold it up, bring others in with neat dribbling and touches? If so hopefully that allows the midfielders and wingers to show more creativity than they have so far.

What makes you say he is a number 10?  He's played as a 10, 20 times in his career.

Because people keep saying it, I've said this already but I'm convinced most of the people in the media are massively overthinking it because he has the skillset to do both.

He's a striker and that's what he's been bought for, there might be occasions where they might play him alongside someone but I severely doubt it's going to be a permanent thing.

striker is one thing, but we need more creativity. who is going to assist our new striker(s) regularly. we need more centrally from midfield, also serious input from wingers, and also fullbacks need to be able to assist goals.

after the break and until the October break, we have 7 games coming up between 13 of Sept and 5th of October. so basically 7 games in 22 days, just about  a game per 3 days.

Wolves home

Barca home

Bournemouth away

Arsenal home

Union SG away

Forest home

and the Carabao game as well to be put into this period.

Wolves, Forest, Union are must wins imo.

Grealish on 4 assists already and he played like 2.5 games for Everton on loan would have been OK imo until end of June. CL experience too. we missed a trick there.

I have not been entirely convinced by our midfield options for a while now but I can understand why we might go in with what we have.

I worry about what Willock could add, and I am not seeing Miley grasp his opportunities by stamping his authority on games. He was awesome when he came on the scene and played with freedom. He just seems stunted now, lacking flair and afraid to make decisive passes. It's annoying because he has the technical skills to excel. Be a bit bolder in your play.

Exactly. Need a striker - that’s it at the moment. Would love a midfielder too but not as desperate.

Cant see in a million years doing enough to improve on last season which should be the goal of every club/fan. That'd be two players minimum irrespective of Isak.

Going to be so many games like today with the extra fixtures otherwise, maybe even if.

Neither Willock nor Miley are good enough

What's happening with Willock, happened with Longstaff...the team grows and our top players grow with the team. The likes of Longstaff cant keep up and they get left behind, which is where I am with Willock. Miley has time but I guess this season is the test.

I also worry that Barnes may be falling behind as well. Barring a couple of goals here and there, he contributes nothing else to general play and just does not seem to be keeping up.

Disagree on Miley, he just doesn’t get enough opportunities but therein lies the issue, does he need to go out on loan?

He needs to grab the opportunities when they come along and be decisive in games like he was when he broke into the team. Then he will get more game time and we can rest the other guys.

We are desperate for a bit more guile in midfield.

Never been something Howe has prioritised. Not a criticism but he’s always looked for runners rather than ‘door openers’.
