Feels like a slow news day. Him getting poached is not even on my radar.

Real Madrid can have him for £1 billion but he has to player for us every other week.

Aarsonson isn't liked by Leeds fans. He's one of those cunts who can't be arsed hanging about for the champo so fucks off on loan and returns when you're back in the prem. He's going through a good bit of form, but in general he's lightweight and it won't last.

Interesting that he thinks we have ambitions to resign Anderson in the summer.

I very much doubt we will have the budget to do that unfortunately. Squad needs a lot of work.

Think this only happens if Tonali leaves.

May happen if we miss out on CL. He was a bit noncommittal a couple of months back in that interview about his long term future. Would make sense in that circumstance.

Minus the fact that he played 46 Championship matches last season and was integral to their promotion.

I think I'm against getting Anderson in purely out of principle.

The idea we sell him at £35m, spend £55m on Elanga, then buy him back for £75m+ makes me a bit ill

Think it was only £15m with the Greek keeper valued at £20m. We were stitched up but had no choice.

Give them Elanga back with a few quid and Willock, sorted.

That reeks of atrocious planning rather than having no choice but I understand the sentiment.

In the summer, what we looking at?

Keeper feels key, as does defensive cover if we don't sign anyone in January. Then I'd assume the weighting of other signings depend on sales?

For example, if we sell Joelinton, we might go big in midfield. If not it could be a "project player".

It's further annoying that Vlachidimos actually seems to be not bad, but we've trashed his value by pretending he doesn't exist.

GK - RB - CB - LB - CM -CM - RW - FWD

Ramsdale - Krafth - Trippier - Schar - Lascelles - Joelinton - Willock - Murphy - Osula

For me that’s the scale of the job

£35 million looked a good deal at the time, but aye it should never have come to that. I think the club believed someone would activate Bruno's release clause and there wasn't really a plan B in place if they didn't.

In hindsight, I bet a few at the club wish we'd shifted Gordon to Liverpool.

I'd be amazed if we do that much surgery. We definitely don't need a striker and I'd be suprised if we signed more than one CM. I guess right wing will depend on Murphy, but again, I'd be suprised if we changed that with other pressing concerns.

A very complicated and difficult decision making process to be involved in no doubt, and we're not privy to all the information, but if selling Bruno was the plan A it very much calls into question the wisdom of those making that call at the time.

£15m. We didn't pay £20m for Vlach because we thought that he was great.

Edit: already pointed out.

Yeah, if we don't do any business in this window, I'd expect a fullback, a keeper (maybe Ramsdale if he's happy to stay as second choice?) and a centre-back in the summer and would think everything else would be either speculative or depth/development. Obviously things can change if we lose anyone ourselves. I'd be surprised if we don't give Schar another year unless he really doesn't want to be backup.

Get the impression that unless Howe is fully sold on a player coming into the squad, he won't ever play them regardless of potential or ability.

Whilst it was an odd deal, you don't play 150+ games for Benfica and be Greece's number 1 then still be behind Mark Gillespie.

At worst I’d keep Osula and Big Joe - the rest should all go imo

GK, CB, CM, FB cover.

Seems some uncertainty around the likes of Botman, Joelinton, Tonali and Tino.  So I suppose like you say, depending on who goes and who stays.  It would govern what level of player you're going for, along with whether you need more than one for certain positions.

Our right wing is still a bit of a mess.  Murphy's limitations are being more exposed this season.  Elanga has really got to do something between now and May or I think we need to be looking at wide positions, too.  Which could also be partly funded if we were to sell one of our big names from another area.

Not sure what the approach should be?  Seems like we've padded the squad out reasonably well.  The bench always looks a lot stronger these days.  But maybe 2-3 starting quality players to raise the ceiling and not the floor is what we now need.

Also depends on whether or not we end up in a European competition again and if so, which one.
