NUFC Transfer Rumours

The summer was a shit show - wasted millions

The crazy thing is summer 2026 requirement in terms of personnel are the same

GK - CB - CM - RW - CF as a minimum - then 2 full backs

There is simply no room for sentiment imo - you have to be ruthless this summer - Ramsdale - Trippier - Kraft - Schar - Willock - J Murphy - Osula are all surplus

I’d be open to offers or try to flog Big Joe and Wissa to Saudi

This summer has to be big and in parts creative

Id hold onto Schar and Murphy for the squad, especially if we end up in a lower level European completion. The rest can go, although I always wanted Trippier to hang around and maybe transition into a coaching role, but I think he'll still want to be playing football next season.

Even if Schar had a few years left on his current deal we wouldn't bring in much £ for him given his age. No problem with him getting an extension and being backup and a bit-part-player next season.

Yeah we won’t get money for Schar - but I don’t want him AND Burn - Burn should be 4th choice next season with us bringing in a CB to compete with the other 2 - as long as we bring in a CB then ok keep Schar - but we have to bring in a CB - non negotiable

Can only assume the decision to not spend in January is to allow us some healthy headroom in the summer with weird and wonderful PSR calculations.

Otherwise I cannot understand it at all. The thought that Burn is still considered a viable LB option is neglectful at best. I’m not even convinced he should be starting at CB when two of Thiaw, Schar and Botman are fit.

Lascelles leaving is neither here nor there and frees up c.£40k on the wagebill with probably a nominal fee to go with it. Would have been happy to see Willock go with a replacement bought in but appreciate the risk there when we struggle to keep our midfielders fit.

A new defender (LB or ideally someone who can cover both sides) and a midfielder (allowing Willock to depart) would have been the basics this window. A random out of the blue purple signing to give us a massive boost would have been ideal.

Still think the squad is good enough to get a European place and that’s exactly what we need from here.

I mean it is absolutely the biggest contributing factor, whether people like it or not.

I meant in the terms we’ve spent over £200m on players that aren’t performing or working out for whatever reason. No one to blame but ourselves. Also there is PSR room like we’ve never had before

Could be a huge rebuild in the summer maybe. Especially if Tino and Tonali go, we must surely be in a good position to spend hundreds of billions.

Lascelles too as he’s been a big part behind the scenes.

Even if we are (we arent) we have to do it in a world cup year after waiting for the big fish to feed and this will be led by Ross Wilson at best who has a very mixed track record.

Idk about you but I'm not looking forward to the summer at all.

Look on the bright side.

Not many competitive away games in the summer...

Can’t help but think they’ve held off this January knowing they’ll need to replace a large number of players for one reason or another in the summer and don’t want damage the funds by spending now and potentially limiting things in the summer.

Rather than spending more now, miss out on Europe still and it has a bigger damaging effect on the summer.

or maybe plans for a management change in the summer so don’t want Eddie spending more now and the new guy stuck with more new players he doesn’t want?

Whats the difference ? surely bringing in a player or two in January would help now and in the summer.

The truth is we spent £240m in the summer and all it generated was 12 goals so hardly surprising we aren't active in the Jan transfer market.  Probably constrained by PSR yet again.

The truth is we spent £95.6m in the summer.

I think we'll have no choice but to sacrifice a couple of top players to enable us to have the budget to go again this summer as we'll, realistically, not be able to ship out some of the dogshit we've brought in for anything but a PSR loss.

We just need to be competent in the transfer market again. I'm less worried about the number of signings, what decisions are made... we just need competence to come back in the rooms

The issue there being we have at least two departments which require a total overhaul: GK and Forwards.

There's an argument to say our midfield does too tbh if/when Sandro goes.

Because of the shitshow that was last summer, we're back to having zero room for error again.

I have a feeling this was why he was so keen on Guehi originally. Perfect age, profile and a PL level captain so an ideal role model for the younger lads.
